ATL ladies I need your help!!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok ladies my me and my FI are considering moving to the Atlanta area. I've been to Atlanta several times and I love it. I'm just not sure where to live or anything. Theres so many different places. I'm a little confused. And ofcourse FI would leave it all up to me to find us a nice place to live so I'm a little stressed. So any help, advice, or anything would really help. Thanks in advance ladies!!!

Girl I am in the same boat... I am in dire need to move to the A...the only thing is, I am not coming across any job opportunities. I think they want someone who already lives there or something... I don't know, but it's starting to stress me out.

As far as living goes, Buckhead is nice...and I have heard it is best to live in the out skirts like Norcross or Stone Mountain...

Do you have a job down therehuh.gif Gimme the scoop.

I have no job there yet but I'm working on that. I hope I can find something. I think you're right about employers wanting you to already live there. It's really not fair. I can't afford to move there with out having a job secured. And who's going to want to rent to me without a job.

My other thing is I hope FI can find job. My FI just finished culinary school and I have seen a few chef jobs but not many. I really wish he wouldn't have left me in charge of everything but he's working 12 hour days and has no time to look. So I'm in charge smile105.gif and it's driving me nuts. Hopefully we can help each other out and get there together

I prefer the outskirts of the city. The closer to the A you live, the higher your cost of living will be. I prefer Rockdale County, Henry County, or Covington which is Newton County. It's further out, but you can get a LOT more home for the $. Just be aware that traffic is a nightmare in the city. If you do some research on companies that you would like to work for and get a general idea of their location, you can make a decision based upon that. PM me if you need any more info.

I defitenly agree with Leticia. I love being on the outskirts, but not to far from 'city life'. It depends on how close you want to be to everything and of course, your budget. Are you looking for an apartment, townhome, or house? Are there certain things you would prefer to be closer to? They are building lots of new condos and lofts downtown, but of course come with the downtown price.

I actually live on the outskirts b/c the taxes are lower, we got more house for less $ (not to mention I cant reach out and touch my neighbors house, lol), and its quieter. Wherever you go in Atlanta, you will pretty much run into traffic, lol, so there's no avoiding that. I've only lived here for about 4 1/2 years, and still get lost b/c there are so many different areas! lol Thank goodness for my FI, he was born here, so that helps!

But I actually moved here b/c of a job offer, and the company actually paid for me to relocate, so dont give up on that. You just have to find the right company ;~)

If you want, I will try and find some 'moving to atlanta' pamphlets/magazines to send to you, if you think that will help.

Hey ladies I was born and raised in Atlanta so any info you need I would be glad to assist. I read an article in the Atlanta News, Sports, Atlanta Weather, Business News | ajc.com that this company will be hiring 80 people due to an expansion. Here is the website Consumer Credit Counseling Service -- Non-profit CCCS and look for job openings. Unsure what type of experience you have.

I would wait to see where I would be working before deciding on where to live. I just moved from Covington, GA because I could not take the traffic anymore but I loved living there.

Thank you so much ladies for all your help. My stress level has really gone down. I'm really looking at living on the outskirts of the city. That seems like the best for me and FI. I'm not sure which area yet but I know once FI and I find jobs that will narrow it down. Now I'm off on a job search. Wish me luck!!!
