I realized I should probably answer my own question.....

I was 2 months shy of my 25th B-day and my FI was a month shy of his 26th. We have been together since I was 16 and he was 17, but we waited until we were established and mature enough to handle the responsibilty of being married. I still feel young to be engaged, because I am the first and remain the only one of my friends to be getting married. I do know that he is the one and only man for me though, so in that sense

My brother and his GF live together and act like a married couple, and they are amazing for each other, but I guess I don't understand the rush....They have been together for over 2 years and just moved in. They are responsible and in love, but I guess I'm a bit surprised b/c I didn't see it coming while I was still engaged. In fact she and I had a convo about it last week and I predicted they would be married in 2012....3 1/2 years seemed reasonable....

Ah well, what works for them is what matters.

I am 23... and was just proposed to...

But... I was 21 when I entered a relationship "with the intent of marriage" -- aka -- the modern courtship.

People freaked out that I was so young and made that choice.

But then again, we were weird. We were very clear from the beginning what we saw marriage as, where we wanted to go... and he decided on day 4 of knowing me he wanted to marry me. He waited 8 months before actually pursing me, but yeah.

We got engaged when I was 31 and he was almost 35. I don't think age really matters too much (it is more the maturity level which is different for everyone) but I am so glad that I waited to get married. I was dating a guy for 6 years (when I was 18-24 years old) and I could have easily gotten married but I have no doubt that I would have been divorced by now. To each his own though...

LOL, married at 21!!! I don't think so. I was still learning my likes and dislikes in men. I was still playing the field and enjoying life. LOL, I was too busy saving up for my college spring break trip. Marriage was the last thing on my mind at 21. I don't think so.

When I got married, I was financially stable too, with a great job, and purchased a home a year prior to the engagement. My state of mind near 30 versus my state of mind at 21 was very very different.

I was 25 when we got engaged, but almost 21 when we started dating.

I personally don't think anyone should get married before 25. No offense to our younger brides.

I think your early twenties is a time to learn about life and yourself. You can't do this fully while taking care of a family, even if the family is only the two of you.

I know lots of people who were married between 18 and 22 and a majority of them are divorced and even re-married.

While DH and I have been together for over 6 years, I am not the same person I was when we started dating and I made different choices about my life because the two of us were together. I am not saying I have regrets, but I can certainly say my life would have been different had I been single in my early 20s.

Before we got engaged, the lack of our own independant adult lives was an issue for us.
