So Thomas Beatie finally gave birth to his daughter. I remembered we had talked about this story before...

'Pregnant man' gives birth to baby girl -- Newsday.com

Quote:
A transgender man who made national news earlier this year when he revealed he was pregnant has given birth to a girl, ABC News reported.

Thomas Beatie, 34. who became pregnant through artificial insemination, gave birth Sunday to a healthy baby. The Oregon man was resting and healthy, according to ABC. The birth was natural.

Beatie, who was born a woman, kept his female sex organs.

"I actually opted not to do anything to my reproductive organs because I wanted to have a child one day," he told Oprah Winfrey earlier this year. "I see pregnancy as a process and it doesn't define who I am."

According to ABC, he was inseminated with a donor's sperm at his home by his wife. The device was described as similar to a syringe without the needle.

I know it is weird but I read the article and I was just so happy for them. I know a lot of people don't understand being transgendered but in this day and age I'd rather see someone be truly happy even if they are different then be unhappy trying to be normal and as long as they couple loves the child and is always looking out for the child's best interest then things should be fine!

The transgender thing... I mean... I have a friend who transitioned... so I try and "get it" but I don't. I've never been "trapped" by my body and needed to change my gender.

I know there is a lot of hype about a "man getting pregnant" -- but the reality is, he just changed his socialized gender is taking hormones.

I'm glad they are happy -- and most importantly, I'm glad that a baby will grow up loved.

I just don't get it.

If I decided I wanted to be a cat and started living my life as a cat, I doubt people would accept it. They'd say, "no, you were born a human." And even if I said "but I was born incorrectly, I am actually a cat." They would probably take me someplace happy until I got my head on straight again.

*sigh*
