December 2008 brides

My FI and I are completely untraditional with all of our music selections. Currently, I am walking down to "When I First Saw You" by Jamie Foxx (from the Dreamgirls soundtrack), our first dance is to "Steppin' Into Heaven" by R Kelly, and we haven't decided on what we are walking back down the aisle to yet. We are thinking maybe some Barry White "My Everything" or "I Feel Good" by James Brown.

 

I haven't decided on the day of itinerary yet, but will post once I figure something out, which should be sometime this week.

I've had to do one for our photographer and DJ...but I don 't think that's what you mean:-)

Yeah -- just PM me your e-mail and I'll send you what I've done so far (photographer timeline and shot-list wishlist...) and feel free to point out mistakes:-)

 

For some reason, I can't find where I put the DJ timeline...will hunt that down too:-)

So I've got drama...

 

1) I bought my dress last Friday and they were holding it there waiting for the warehouse to get back to them about if they had it in my size (they said they'd swap it if that were the case). It's been a WEEK and they haven't called me at all.

Needless to say, I'm driving out there today and picking up my dress. Enough wasting time! I need to get it to the seamstress!

 

2) WC emailed us a few days ago asking for our guest count. We technically don't have to pay up until Nov 12. We told her where we were at (8 on resort and 11 off) and she wrote back to tell us that 90% have to be staying at our resort. WTF? Never said that before, no record of that in our emails or the contract.

She's written back to tell us that she'll have to talk to the hotel about this.

I've now told the few outstanding people to book at our hotel for sure. My dad is going to. Not sure of the other one.

 

3) I went to a shower on the weekend for FSIL and one of FI's 'ex-friends' was there and it was very stressful... FI asked his brother if the ex-friend would be at their wedding this wekeend and his brother wrote back that he's sick of all the drama and we should just grow up! None of them know what we went through with this girl... oh well. I am hoping the wedding tomorrw won't be too crazy...

 

In good news, I'm taking today off because I'm burned out and it's nice just catching up on emails and relaxing.

 

Also,

I started trying to learn to run at the gym and hve been going every second day. I feel awesome!

 

AND the biggest news!!! FI has somehow gotten a few of my friends to come to the wedding!!! They had no money and so he somehow swung it with airmiles and 'hiring' them to paint our bathrooms at some point. LOL! He's creative. I'm so happy some of my friends will be there after all. I was feeling pretty down about them not comin.

Kevsgirl-that is great about your friends. One of my girls is trying to figure out how to come. If she can i will be thrilled. Her and I were BFF and we had a falling out 2 years ago, well this August I decided to try to contact her and talk some things out. All went well and we are rebuilding the friendship. She came to my shower and is coming to the bachlorette, it's nice cause she is the one person I know will make me having a great time her #1 priority, no drama!

 

I can't believe time is flying what does everyone have left to do?

 

I have:

-2nd dress fitting (Nov. 12)

-makeup trial (Nov. 8th)

-hair color (Nov. 29)

-order rest of and assemble favors

-give bridesmaids gifts

- write a welcome letter to put in bags

-buy parents gifts

-finish IPOD music for ceremony

-start fake and bake (first week of Nov.)

-go to Atlantic City for Bachlorette, get sloppy with all my girls! (Nov. 22)

that sucks about your WC JUST telling you NOW about having to have a certain number of people! Why in the world wouldn't she (he?) have told you that earlier? I know our WC has told me that like ten times, lol:-) I'm like, okay, OKAY, I get it! :-)

Hopefully it will all work out...but like any of us need to stress about stupid stuff like this at this point in the game!

....why is my to-do list so much longer than yours? haha:-)

I see by looking at your list that I should really get off my butt and get some stuff done already!:-)

 

Of course, I still can't do SOME stuff like menus, b/c I'm STILL waiting for my WC to get back to me on that....(I've only been waiting like three weeks....)

NJ Bride- good reminder on the tanning! I need to put that on my list too!

 

You guys are moving right along with the to do list. Mine is still pretty long but one thing I'm really excited about. Tomorrow I'm doing a hair trial, make up trial and then going to the salon for my 2nd fitting. So I'm going to get to see the whole "look" all put together!!! YAY! A lot to do after that but mostly on hold until I figure out where I"m getting married! Looking more and more each day like it will not be DT

That must be SO frustrating!!
Is there at least a cut-off for when they offiically decide to move you, so you can plan...?

Every week they say they think it will be resolved the next week. Then we get to that week and they start moving the next 2 weeks of brides and tell the rest of us it'll be resolved. I'm 12/5 so I'm still in limbo. Everyone through 11/15 is moving... seems like some folks through 11/30 have started to but not sure if that's the official statement or not. Over time you just start to come to grips with it!

Now that Dec is fast approaching, its time we get some major activity on this thread like the Nov thread. the Nov 08 thread has been booming!
