I chose to book through DW mainly because I found it online, and when we got engaged, the only thing I knew was I wanted a destination wedding, but got so overwhelmed with choices that I didn't know where to start! My planner helped me narrow down locations, and that was all very helpful. But now we've reserved 16 rooms, and only filled 3 and I'm starting to panic.

I think I can only reduce 30%, which leaves us at 13. But, hopefully people come through last minute.

I kind of want to reduce my package to the complimentary package now, since I've read on here it's cheaper to do the add-ons? Is it too late to change?
I dont think it's too late to change your mind... I have seen others change to the complimentary package with no problem. I would just check with your wedding coordinator but you should be fine.

Of course, that is up to you -- you don't have the "wow" walking down the aisle moment. The sacrifice was worth it to me.

By the time the ceremony and group pictures were done the lighting was about like this:

can anyone explain the "no beach" thing?? is it just a lack of sand? the water from the pics ive seen is gorgeous
If you go back to around page 30 we talk about it there and I posted a few pictures. But there literally is no "beach". There is sand with lounge chairs and water but you step down into a lagoon...it's ocean water but you can't swim out into the ocean. Great snorkeling though!
I think we talk about the light situation there too. I was married a month after you will be and it was dark by 5. If you look at my slideshow the pictures during the ceremony are from about 4:15-4:30 and the ones of my husband and I are just after. By 5 when the cocktail started you can see that there really was no light left.

We had light throughout the whole wedding and enough light to get a good amount of post wedding shots and group shots but definitely not enough to move around the resort and get pictures. We stayed in one location for the post wedding shots. If you want to take advantage of the beautiful grounds I would say either do an earlier wedding or do your pictures before the ceremony.

I actually loved the food. We ate at the pool a lot (nachos and pizza and beer) and ordered a lot of room service after late night drinking but we'd go out every night to dinner and everyone REALLY enjoyed the food. Or at least they did a really good job of pretending if they didn't :) Mundaca (the steak restaurant) and the asian one seemed to be everyones favorite. I didn't care for the Italian one much. And the mediterranean was my hands down fav for lunch.

We did the Cajun buffet for our wedding and it was my favorite meal of the whole week. I definitely went back for seconds. They changed the menu options right before our wedding and we liked the old ones better and stuck to what we originally decided on. It was a hit!!!

You don't actually have to pick your menu until you get there and have your meeting with Dulce so I wouldn't stress because that will give you time to get there and taste stuff and see what you like/don't like. You can also change the menu how you want i.e. substitute pasta from one menu for potatoes from another. They are really flexible!

Hi Ladies....

I am new to the forum and am considering the Aventura Cove Palace for my upcoming DW. I know many of you chose the resort because it was connected to Aventura Spa Palace which was adults only. We have a few friends friends with children that we'd like to be able to accomodate. For those of you that have already been there....how far of a walk is it from Cove to Palace? Just wondering how easy it would be to navigate between the two resorts.

Thanks for your thoughts and I appreciate all of the great information that has already been posted on this thread!

Nicole
