Thanks so much for your input! Everything helps so much.  Especially when you haven't heard boo from the resort.  I've been looking through photos of hairstyles and want to be realistic in my expectations.

I think it also depends on which gazebo you're getting married in...the closer to the water, the windier it will be. We were married in the Tulum Gazebo which is not right on the water, so it was less windy for us. However, the Chichen and Coba are over the water, so probably breezier.

I purposely did not wear a veil for this reason, because I didn't want it to be annoying and blowing all over the place. I decided to wear my hair up, because if it was down in curls, the curls would have been a mess from the wind. That was just my theory though! Mine was not a super tight up-do...it was low and a little looser and it worked fine. Just use alot of hairspraycheesy.gif

I am so excited for you ladies...I miss it there and am SO ready to go back!!

Thanks!  Yes, the video was from the resort.  I was pretty disappointed with the lighting, but I guess there wasn't much they could do with the sun outside and us being under shade.  You will always nit-pick your own video, but overall we are pleased with the memory.  It might be nice to pay extra for a 2nd videographer -- as he missed me and my dad in the horse and carriage because  he was shooting my girls walking down the isle.  After watching the video again, I remember that the walk was very windy, but once we were standing at the alter I didn't feel like it was too bad.  I agree that it will depend on the day and how close to the water you are.  We were married in the Chichen gazebo, which is the most open.

The ceremony was probably only 15 minutes, and I do feel like we did picutres for about an hour and 1/2.  My timing seemed to go:  5pm wedding, 5:30pm family/party pictures, 6-7:15 couple pictures.  I hope this helps?  I did my cocktail party as the welcome party, so my guests just went back to freshen up and had drinks and apps at the restaurant while they waited for us.

How long was your ceremony? I think you said before that they take about 1 1/2 hours after the ceremony to take photos. Is this correct? Just trying to figure out what time to have our cocktail party start.  We'd like to be there for it.

Not sure if any of you future brides plan on using turquoise/aqua as your colors but I just posted my sashes, runners and napkins for sale.  If any of you are interested let me know.

Also, I left about 5 or 6 vases with Cristina when I left and told her to let other brides use them so they should be there for you to use whether it be for welcome dinner, cocktail hour or wedding reception.  I bet you could find some use for them. ;)

Congratulations on winning the BDW stay!! The switch isnt happening until the Fall, so you dont have anything to worry about.

I will be getting to Aventura Cove on May 19th, and my wedding is May 26th, so we might run into each other!!

Thanks!  Looks like we'll be going on the 31st now. Will you be gone by then?  When I got the voucher, it said I had to wait until May 30th to use it.  I had a hard time tracking anyone down today.  When I called the palace number, they said it wasn't their resort anymore & gave me an 1800 number that was a sex line. I tried a few other numbers and got tired of being on hold.  I'm faxing the certificate in tomorrow and hopefully we hear something back to get a flight booked ASAP.

I will be gone:( We leave the 28th, since its memorial day weekend most have that Monday off! Bummer.

That is odd that you have to wait to use it until then, I wonder why. You should email Yesenia with the Miami office just to see if she can maybe help with the certificate, or get you in touch with someone who may be able to help. I have called the 1-800 number before and found it an awful experience, I was on hold for over 10 minutes and gave up. I feel like email is much faster and easier to get more accomplished quicker. If you need Yesenia's email its [email protected]. I hope that helps!! Flights are rising fast in price because of gas, so I would agree to try to book asap :)

So less than 4 weeks and the planning is in full speed! I've been in touch w/Edith (who seems great!) and she sent me the contacts/emails for all spa/salon, golf, tours, etc.

Spa/Salon - [email protected]

Babysitting Services - [email protected]

Tours & Golf - [email protected]

Transfers - [email protected]

ALSO - have a random question - any suggestions on fondant vs. chantilly? I prefer the taste of chantilly, but am wondering if fondant might hold up better during the outdoor reception...? Would appreciate any suggestions!

We had chantilly and thought it was great! I'm not fan of the taste of fondant either -- I don't think many people are -- but fondant does make the look of a lot of cakes.  They had our cake out for us when we arrived the the reception, and then we asked them to put it back in the fridge until we were ready for it.  It did see a little slouchy, but I think in any heat like that, it's not going to matter what type of frosting you have?  Even at my AHR the cake started to slouch a little, and we were indoors. :oP   Here is a pic of our chantilly cake.  We were surprised at how smooth the icing was -- I thought it looked a lot like fondant work!

I hope I don't sound like a moron, but what is the difference between the fondant and chantilly?  I've heard of fondant but not chantilly.  Did they offer you a choice of flavors for the cake?  My package the "emerald" comes with a cake.  In the picture the decoration is in brown chocolate.  I'm  hoping they can make the brown a pink.

I'm still waiting to hear from a WC.  Thanks so much for sharing! It definitely helps us brides that haven't had any communication yet.  I did however, get our salon apts booked.  At least I know my hair will look pretty wink.gif

Not stupid at all!  I had to ask too!  Chantilly is like a buttercream.  They do offer different flavors of cake when you arrive.  I think on the list were chocolate, vanilla and cheesecake??  I chose Tres Leches, which was not on the list, but wasn't a problem at all!  It was delicious!!
