Sandals Photography - Yes or No??

Recommended Posts

Okay…I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered already…

Iâ€ve been hearing mixed reviews on the photos Sandals take. So do they or do they not take good pictures? Do they take just colors, or do they take some black & whites, etc.? Iâ€m a little worried on how my pictures are going to turn out since itâ€s only going to be me and my beau and they don't allow outside photographers?

I'm not sure about whether you can get black or white, but I imagine you can for more $$$.

Have you thought about going off-site to do some pictures? If it is just the two of you, then you could have Sandals just do the ceremony pics (just buy the minimum) and then you could hire a photographer to do more pics elsewhere. I was considering Sandals for just me and my fiance as well and I wanted to take some fitness/bikini pictures as well as wedding pictures. I don't have much faith in the adeptness of AI photographers so I would much rather hire my own and get the pics I want.

I posted this response in a different thread, but I thought I'd restate my comment here in case anyone would find it helpful:

Here's what I am going to do: we're getting the a la carte (6) 8x10 pics for $150, and the $500 DVD of the ceremony/cocktail reception, plus my future Mother in law just bought a professional-grade Nikon camera, so she will be snapping pics throughout the ceremony as well.

And then, a few hours later, my guests and I are going to be going OFF THE RESORT PROPERTY with Alain Hottat of Brian Nejedly Photography (Brian is an American Photographer that lives in Ocho Rios, so you don't have to pay travel fees -- he's already there and he's been a DREAM to deal with so far! Total professional!) Alain will be taking us to both a beach location and a falls location to do some portrait shots with our guests in my ceremony dress (and then I'll change for a TTD session, just my FI and I) right around sunset. And I think you will be shocked by how reasonable his prices are....check out his site at Jamaica Wedding Photographer - Brian Nejedly.

Hope that helps! wink.gif

That's a good idea to use the resort photogapher for just basic pics and then hire an off-site photographer and go off-site for more detailed pics. Great info and I love the photographers website. I may consider this as an option also.

Here's the link to my pictures that were taken at Sandals Whitehouse. It was just my fiance and me. You can buy a CD with copyrights so you can come home and have enlargements made in black and white, sepia, whatever. Our photographer Collin did a fantastic job and has been a photographer for Sandals for 10+ years- He was very professional and honestly loves photography. He would take several pictures of the same pose until everything was perfect. Hope our pictures help answer your question. Good Luck!!
