Is my family for F'in real?!

OK, so tomorrow my sister and my Mom were going to go find a bridesmaid dress for my sister and decide on which color to go with. My other two bridesmaids live too far to go. We have been planning this for like two months. I have seen my sister every day for the past two weeks except for today. My mom just called to find out about getting her passport (with two months to go) and I told her and said something about going dress shopping tomorrow. She said "oh your sister isn't going to be able to make it to the wedding" WHAT?! Why has nobody told me?! I know she has a lot of stuff going on but WTF?! She could have at least told me. Mom said she was really sad and didn't want to tell me. Ok I get that but we are going tomorrow to buy her BM dress and they wait until 11pm the night before to tell me. SIGH I am seriously wanting to yell at the top of my lungs. I understand why she can't come. That isn't even the issue, I just can't believe that everybody knew she wasn't coming and nobody has told me. The other thing is NONE of my family has booked or got their passports. My Dad, his gf, my Mom and my brother are all still claiming they are going but no progress has been made. I am so done even caring. If they get there they get there if not we are going to have a hell of a time without them. I can't even believe I am writing this post after reading everyone else's and never thinking it would happen to me. My FI is going to be so upset.

Aww, I'm sorry about your sister. I'm sure everyone waited to tell you because they just didn't want to disappoint you. It would have been nice if they told you sooner though!

My dad, cousin (and his gf) and my aunt waited until 1.5 weeks before the wedding to book their tickets and hotel. Luckily they didn't need passports for St Thomas, but it was still annoying that they waited soooo long to book because I wasn't even sure if they were going to end up going or not. Apparently some people are major procrastinators when it comes to travel plans... which I'll never understand, but I'm the super organized type. Anyway, I've heard so many stories about last minute bookers.

You are right, you need to just stop worrying about them. Focus on you and what you need to get done. They are adults, they can make their own plans and if they don't get all their stuff done on time, they have no one to blame but themselves.

oh, kat I am so sorry to hear about your sis. Did your mom say anything about her travel when you talked to her just now. It was probably really hard for her to call and give you that news. And two months is plenty of time for people to still buy their tickets. Maybe you can talk to your mom about how you're feeling? I know you're super upset now, so sending love your way. hug2.gif

Thanks girls. I know she is probably really sad she can't go but it hurts my feelings that just last night she was talking about how she was going and then 24 hours later isn't going? I have a feeling my brother might opt out too unless my Dad pays for him. He is 18 and doesn't have a job. My Fi is so upset, they always end up not pulling through for me and he called it even though I totally defended them and was so sure they would go. Oh well, two months is a lot of time. Maybe they will pull their heads out of their asses long enough to realize how close we are getting.

They'll come through for you Kat :) I know that must have really hurt your feelings though.

I knew there were certain family members (and I am sure others prob had the same thing) who we knew would not be able to come from the start. And I had to remember that it was important to me & Dean just like it's important to you & your FI to get married in the special place that you chose.

Oh, Kat, that bites!

I bet she was just afriad of hurting your feelings and was thinking of an easier way to break the news to you.

I think you should tell everyone that the closer you get to the departure date, the more expensive it is going to be!

I told them Martha. It's totally out of my hands. FI just called me and I totally broke down on the phone, poor guy. I feel better though. I think I am still going to go to Ft worth to the dress store ( I have to get my dress altered anyway) and still bring them both and talk to them. I knew people wouldn't be able to go, but my sister and mother? I thought for sure they would be the first on board. Maybe there is something I can do to help.

Is it money issues?

If you booked through a TA, they can at least make payments.....except that with a TA you have to be paid 45 days before departure date, so that doesn't give them much time.

I hope they pll through for you...I am sure you really want your family there on your big day.

Oh Kat!! That totally stinks. And I'm so sorry you have to deal with this.

I don't know what I would have done if my sis wasn't coming, so I can't imagine how sad you are.

It will all work out in the end. Maybe talk to you sister and schedule a packing party the day before you're supposed to leave or something so she feels more involved?

Good luck. Keep your chin up.
