it is 90 degrees outside, is it inappropriate to wear capris to an interview?

I have an interview today, at the hospital where I already work, just a different department for a different nursing job. Is it bad to wear capris to the interview? thanks for your advice!

Good luck with the interview! You will do great. Do you have a nice skirt that hits you at the knee or just below that you could wear instead?

I have a general rule of thumb: If I have to ask if something is appropriate, then it is not.

 

But, that being said, I have no idea what the protocol is in the nursing world. Personally, though, if I want to be received as a professional, I will dress the part.

Capri's are generally a casual thing to wear - I think it depends on the atmosphere of your hospital. If you have a dressier top to wear with then it might work. I like the skirt idea better though.

i knew that you guys were going to say that but it was worth a try. i hate dressing up. too bad i am not scheduled to work right after, then i could just wear scrubs!

Generally speaking I say overdress even if you know the enviroment is casual but I don't know nursing either. Since you always work in scrubs capris are dressy...but you know the field & its your call.

good advice! Event though you will wear scrubs on the job, I think you should look professional during your interview because nurses are serious professionals!

I agree with everything said. I work in the business environment so I would say NO CAPRIS for sure but I don't know what it's like for nursing. Sometimes you just have stick it out for a good impression.

 

I live in Houston where it can be up to 100 degrees and remember wearing a black suit for an interview at noon. I was soooo hot but it was worth it. I got the offer.

you don't want to wear capris and than wonder if that hurt your chances later. i hate getting dressed up too, but you can get changed right after. goodluck today!
