UPDATED!

My joints really hurt a lot since Thursday. My shoulder, my fingers, my hips, my ankles. I am achy and so tired. I slept 21 hours out of 29. I am nauseous. what do you think? something to keep in mind, I am somewhat of a hypochondriac so maybe that will sway your decision.

i don't remember getting bit by a tic but I have had tics on me this year. anyway, enough whining, just wanted some opinions. thanks

SO it is now Wednesday and i finally got my tired self to the Drs. I do not have lyme, I have mono! SO this is why I am so tired and achy and blah. Anyway, wanted to let you know!

Tom has Lyme Disease. He got it several years ago (before we met) when he was at a summer-long Army training stint in Wisconsin. They would buddy-up and check each other for ticks and didn't have any spotted.

(This is kinda gross) ... but when they finally got out of the woods and could shower, he found the tick tucked under his ballsack (almost 3-weeks w/o a real shower). He ended up in the ER and his blood pressure dropped so low they read him his last rites and he almost died.

He is fine now ... has some side-effects to it every now and then ... but nothing too serious.

Anyway ... bottom line is don't put off getting checked out. Have you been outdoors a lot? Checked for ticks?

As another one here who has had lyme, let me say please go to doctor -- they can run some blood and let you know in no time!!! OK, that out of the way, even without finding the actual tick, the other thing that might show up is the "bulls eye" rash...a red rash with a white circle in the middle...when I got Lyme I found the tick and then kept watch until I saw the rash show up...but when my mom got Lyme she never found the tick, never saw the rash...and when my dad got Lyme he just knew b/c of the rash....Yup, no kidding! We've all had lyme at one point or another! There are so many deer ticks by our summer home and our dog treks them in constantly!

The problem with Lyme is that it presents the exact same way as the flu so you can never tell -- except for knowing that you've got the addition risk factors such as possibility of exposure which you do...

If you catch it early, it really can be more annoying (like the a bad cold with a fever that you just can't shake for a month or so -- you'll feel better for a week, then bad again for 2-3 days, then fine, etc.)...they put me on a low but constant dose of antibiotics (doxycycline i think) and i was on the mend in know time...
