Recommend a Good Beach Book?

Karen....or anyone else for that matter, I have a TON of chic-lit books that I could lend out. I would need them back though when you are done because I have a huge attachment to my books.

I also have some that aren't so chic-lit, Eat, Pray, Love, The Kite Runner, Memory Keepers Daughter (but I am actually reading this now), and some others.

If there is something you guys have been wanting to read, ask me and I will see if I have it and you can borrow it!

I have 2 suggested authors that are easy fun reads. Either Emily Giffin (Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof and haven't read her latest but it's Love the One Your With). The other Author that I recently discovered and loved was Lisa Lutz her 2 books are The Spellman File's and The Curse of the Spellman's.

Even thought Karen has already picked out her beach reads...I thought Id add to the list. :-) I just finished reading the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. When I stumbled across "Twilight" the first in the series I had no clue it was supposed to be a teen/young adult book. But I had a lot of fun reading it! I'm a sucker for a story involving vampires. ;-) I will say that these books are night and day different from Anne Rice's vampire series. Not as serious, gory and victorian...these are definitely more contemporary. But I was addicted all the same. I read all three of them in a matter of 4 days and they are approximately 500 pages each! I've even been a total nerd and pre-ordered the 4th in the series that is coming out the day before our Vegas trip...figured I'd read on the plane and by the pool a bit. :-) Anyway, I'd definitely reccomend them to anyone who's just looking for a good story to read.

They are actually making a movie of the book Twilight...that at first I was interested in, but now am more nervous about since the movies are NEVER as good as the books they're based on. Oh well, I guess we'll see!

And I'm totally going to scroll back through this list and take some suggestions from you girls...I'm looking for something to distract myself with 'til that next book in the series comes out! lol! ;-)

Lauren,
What is 'sick' about these 2 books? I am currently compiling a list of books to buy for our trip!

The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella is pretty good too.

Jennifer - what is this one about?

Can anyone recommend any good spy / political / espionage thrillers besides Vince Flynn books? Has anyone read Daniel Silva?

Thanks girls!!

alyssa, he's just incredibly sarcastic. it's nothing bloody and disgusting, just sardonic and certainly not chick lit.
i just finished reading all of the rest of his books. there's 1 that i don't have, but i've read the other 9 or so. my favorites were blooksucking fiends (the sequel is you suck) and whale: or i know why the winged whale sings. the rest were REALLY good too.

i also just read diary of a married call girl, and i've read diary of a manhattan call girl before. it's now a tv show (but i think that's based on diary of a london call girl or something like that).

The Undomestic Goddess is about a woman who becomes a maid after previously having no ability whatsoever to do anything domestic (Cook, clean, babysit, etc). It's really funny, and probably one of my favourite Sophie Kinsella's. I just read Can You Keep a Secret? and really enjoyed that one too.

As for good spy/political/espionage thrillers, there are a couple I'm trying to remember...The Footprints of God by Greg Iles is AMAZING...could not put it down.
The Coil by Gayle Linds is pretty good too. A really quick read, with a good story.

Anything by Steve Berry is pretty good as well, not quite spy/political/ espionage, but definitely full of suspense and action.
