Help! Do I need to send a follow up letter to guests?

Recommended Posts

Ladies I need your help!

We sent out our save the date message in a bottle about 3 to 4 months ago. I didn't include a letter with many details since at that point we still weren't sure what resort we were going to be staying at. We are having a nonresort weddign so our guests have the option to stay any hotel they choose. They don't necessarily have to stay at our hotel so I didn't think it was as crucial for me to include that information yet, especially since it was still undecided. Basically our save the dates included the date, the location and our web site.

Then, as soon as I found out what resort we were staying at, I updated our web site and sent out an email to all my friends and family with hotel info and travel agent's number. I forwarded the email to my fiance and told him to forward it to his people. Now 5 months to the weddimg and very few people have booked and I am afraid I may be the reason for the low confirmation. Maybe my email was such an informal way of communication that people didn't really take it seriously. I figured people could always look at the web site and realize we have booked our hotel but maybe no one is looking there.

Should I have sent a follow up letter instead of an emailhuh.gifsmile35.gif

Should I still send one now with the travel information and remind people to book if they are really considering cominghuh.gif I am just afraid the prices will really skyrocket and people won't be able to afford to come anymore.

Am I just silly for worryinghuh.gif

Don't get me wrong if people are just being lazy and haven't purchased their tickets, that's fine with me but I just want to ensure I gave them all the information they needed properly.

Thank you so much for your input!!!

You could send out just a quick letter to all your invited guests stating, Hello everyone, Just wanted to update to you on our wedding: it will be held at XXX place at XXX date at XXX time.

For travel arrangements, please see/call XXX

and list your website.

it never hurts.

Some people never check the internet or their email so it's prob a good idea cause everyone checks their mail. :)

There are several people that have not responded to our STD's, Invites, or emails. I have everything listed on the website as well, but I have only heard from a couple people/families.

I think that sending out a letter with more details may be the way to go. Like it was mentioned, everyone checks their mail.

Ok, it's a bad pic, but here it is. I created it in Vista print. Also had our return address preprinted on the back (no cost for that) so I just had to put on labels, stamps and throw them in the mail.

The pic is blurry, but the post card is not!

Thank you so much DEZ!

Ok so I'm definetly going to take everyones advice and I'm making a postcard/payment reminder. I guess I didn't want to sound too pushy but I realize people do need reminders. I will get working on my postcards. It will be my first vistaprint project and I am so excited!!!
