(Please don't rat me out about the chairs, this was a hard one and one I really pushed for.)

 

For those of you who have made decisions on decor and flowers, congrats! One thing, make sure you are running those pics past your WC and asking for a quote from Lomas. I thought I had a lot of things nailed down and when I get an official quote had to make some changes. In fact, I am still working out the centerpieces. And my final payment is technically due tomorrow.

 

Great to know about the hair. I am getting my hair done there even though the price is very steep. I am going to practice with a bridesmaid and maybe she'll be able to pull it off for me. That would be great.

 

Ok, so for you ladies who have already been married, please let me know what I need to be working on! I think next step is picking music, writing the ceremony and figuring out seating arrangmenets. Here is what I HAVE done in the past few weeks:

 

1st dress fitting (I found a tailor that will do it for $700...more than I wanted to spend but way less than the $1100 I was originally quoted)

Bought FI's ring (HE LOVES IT...good deal in LA's diamond district)

Sent brouchures to guests

Ordered wedding shoes

Ordered  wedding place card frames

Ordered custome OOT tote bags

Almost done with my "Weekend Warrior Kits" aka Hangover Kit

Purchased all but 2 frames for family photos

Made, ordered and recieved welcome postcards for the OOT bags

Made, ordered and recieved hang tags for the flower petal bags

Ordered dried lavendar for the aisle

Ordered jordan almond and favor bags

Bought sticky paper for custom chapsticks (still need to put those together)

Ordered and recieved table number holders

Been working out finally (down 5 lbs! onlya couple more to go)

Got groom's tie

Ordered and recived ring bearer pillow

 

Here are some things that I need to do:

Finalize centerpiece choices

POssibly order candles and votives for centerpieces

Get string lights for the Zavaz Plaza

Get fabric for custom table runners, send to my aunt to sew

Figure out ceremony music

Figure out cocktail reception music

Figure otu reception music

Seating chart

Table numbers, place card frames

Get approval on signtaure drink

Print menus

Put together ceremony program (and print it)

Do custome chapsticks

Write the ceremony

Finish fittings

Order jewelry for the bridesmaids

get groom's pocket square

get my son (the ring bearer) a suit

 

Ok...so nevermind...I think I answered it for myself but please do let me know if you think that I am leaving anything off. Wow, that's a long list. Man, I have to get to it. FI has his bachelor party this weekend. Here's hoping I can get a ton done while being home alone with a wild little 13 month old.

I took the day off tomorrow and am going on a dress shopping extravaganza.  I found a dress last weekend that isn't what I was looking for but it's kind of "me."  Very romantic and elegant.  I was looking for something more sexy but I kind of think this one could be both romantic and sexy, with the right modifications.  Hmm, but with me being one of the most indecisive people in the WORLD, I figure I have to try on a ton before I can truly make a final decision.  My mom wasn't with me on that one and it was found 2 hrs from home.  So, I think we are taking a trip in 2 weeks. 

 

Hopefully, I can make a decision!!  )

Depends on what you are doing... it's going to cost a lot of money. Do you have budget for your dress? Do you know what's important to you? To us... we really wanted to have good food for our reception. We didn't care about other stuff too much. But it's not cheaper than we would've hoped. We initially thought $5k...you can see we are not even close to that budget. I can give you a better break down of what I have so far if you send me a PM with your email address.

The only thing that I would complain about is the hair salon!

I paid for a hair trial and was very happy with my hair and the girl who did it, however, on the day of the wedding, that girl was nowhere to be seen!! 

Also the co-ordinator had booked my hair appointment for 1.30pm and I was getting married at 4pm.  At 2.30, I was still waiting to get my hair done!  they eventually got another girl to start curling my hair, but then, when the trainee girl (who couldn't even curl hair properly) had finished with another client, she was brought over to finish my hair!  I was not happy.  She did not speak any english and I could not let her know what I wanted.  I wanted a messy side bun, but all she did was sweep my hair to the side and pin it.  I ended up bursting into tears because all I could think was that I would have awful hair on my wedding day!  They ended up having to phone for another stylist from another resort just up the road and I felt crap on my wedding day when I should've been excited!

I was eventually happy with the hairdo, however, did not get out of the salon until 3.15pm!  Ended up having to run back to my room and slap on my make up and throw on my dress in a last minute rush!  Was definitely not how I imagined the getting ready process on my wedding day!  I thought I would be sipping champagne and taking it easy.

I would just advise you all to make sure that if you are having a trial, make sure it will be the same girl doing your hair on the day, or there is no point!  I would also advise you to get an early hair appointment, as they did tend to run over if there are a few of you getting your hair done!

Amanda, I think you are on top of everything. I am still struggling to FOCUS on wedding stuff. My job has been very hectic and I have a big deadline to meet by end of Sept. Ah... can't focus anything else but work. I cannot wait till we are in Mexico!!!

 

Wow... $17k for your wedding including the photographer? I think you did really good!!!

Married ladies...what did you walk down the aisle to? Tradition "here comes the bride music" or something else? I am struggling with this big time. I think I know what we are doing for the wedding party's entrance, The Beatles' "In my life". Thought about making my entrance to a cut version of Stevie Wonder's "You and I" but not sure if that would be cheesy....or worse, too long! Nothing worse than stalling down the aisle to make sure the lyrics time out. Then as we exit the sky deck, I think we might do Stevie's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered". It's such an upbeat happy song, we love Stevie and it suits the occasion...but I am hesitant...too many lyrics? What did you do? Thanks!

Really? Thanks! I am sure you have more done than you know. But you and I have the opposite problem... I am soooo busy at work but I cannot focus on it. Anything but work and wedding seams like a reasonable distraction. That is until I finally get in trouble.

I love, love, love Stevie!!!  I came in to "You and I" and it wasn't cheesy!!!!! LOL  We had them start the song and then rose petals were put down so I basically didn't start walking until the second verse.  It wasn't too long and the WC's will fade the music if you want them to. I like "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" as an exit song.  Our first dance was "Knocks Me Off My Feet".

Not a married lady yet but I am going to walk down to this choir version of Prince's Everybody's Free. (I am about to get a touch cheesy myself) It was what Juliet walked down the aisle to in Romeo and Juliet the Baz Lurman version with Leo and Claire Danes. I have always wanted it and it's only 1 min and 20 sec so It shouldn't drag out too long.
