Their target date is December 1st to fully reopen.  Congrats on your wedding when's your Anniversary?  I know I couldn't believe it when our TA sent us the pictures (her colleague was just in the area last week)!  We were so bummed, because we had fallen in love with AB, I cried for 2 days!  I mean I'm sure its going to be beautiful and better once the renovations are complete but unfortunately for us they won't be done by October.   And we just can't take the risk that all of our guests won't be at the same resort, so we had to cancel.  The frustrating part about it all is that we had asked them before we booked if there were going to be any off-season construction going on and they completely down played it, telling us/our TA there would only be 10-15 rooms closed for interior renovations.  It was only when we couldn't get two extra rooms that we realized the extent of their renovations.  I also hear that they own the Hidden beach resort next door to AB and that that resort is completely closed for renovations as well.  I just hope that other brides get informed about it, its really unfortunate.

I flew him from NY and put him up in the hotel he took rehearsal, ceremony, and trashing pictures for $2200

gave me over 800 pictures

 

takes direction well and was nice.

Julie - just checked out your pix, love them! You looked gorgeous and you and I had very similar weddings! I got married on the SkyDeck and had our reception on Zocallo al Fresco as well. Was is unbelievably hot for you there? I almost couldnt' handle it.

Wow! They are really renovating. I will be in the area mid October, I'll try to take some pictures, so for those that are booked at Azul Beach, they'll have an idea how they are progressing.

Hi Girls,  Has anyone ever inquired with their WC why the Lomas website shows Caribe & Royale are the approved photographers for Azul, while the Azul website  shows Caribe & Matias?

I hope you find something special for your mom. My mom hasn't been the most excited person for me about this whole thing... (for many reasons) but I am happy to hear about your mom's support and love. We are probably just getting both our parents a framed wedding picture...

 

I hope you get what you vision for your wedding. We decided to go with just plain chairs - FREE. Sounds like you are looking at every detail to make sure it's perfect. Good luck!!! Don't stress out about it though.

On another note, WARNING...here comes my rant 

 

So, last week was the first time I spoke to Carolina and I have to say she seems very organized and nice but I think she was brushing me off. We went over all the details of our wedding and she gave me some pointers and sent me some links of helpful info. But now that I look back on it, nothing that I wanted negotiated was she successful with. She kind of shut me down on some things because she said she "knew" they weren't going to budge on them so I let them go. My main gripe, however, was the chiviari chairs!! She emailed me today and said that after a week of negotiating (which I really wonder if she did) they will not come down on the price. I refuse to pay $12/chair ($1200 total for the wedding and reception) BUT I really want them! I even negotiated with myself and said that I would only pay for them to be at one event even if they didn't come down on the price but honestly I'M PISSED! I know for a fact that some of you ladies have gotten the price down on the chairs, therefore I know someone is lying or playing hardball. I'm not an overly pushy person, so I have not pressed the negotiating issue on anything else that they turned me down on but this really makes me mad!!

 

We aren't using most of the stuff given in the pearl or the sky ceremony packages. We're bringing our own minister (I know that's like $400 saved right there). The fans they say are "personalized" for the sky aren't that at all. I just found out they're black an white which we can't use, so that's another thing I have to buy. The "personalized" programs aren't that nice IMO, so I'm making my own. They quoted me $300 for bouquets that I wanted so I'm bringing my own and my plan was to use the $50 bouquet that's included in the package as a toss bouquet (which kinda sucks because the person won't be able to keep it) but that was included free with the bouquets I had to purchase so I won't be using that either. Then, I find out from AmyKH that the damn live streaming of the wedding didn't even work for her and that was one of the ways I was able to justify the additional cost of the Sky Wedding to my FI!!

 

I am just so outdone that they won't go down on the chairs for me considering all of this. I haven't gotten a break on anything else price-wise except the cocktail party. I know I signed up for this and these chairs aren't "necessary" but thinking about it just makes me mad. Sorry for the rant but I just had to say something.

I need help... what are you guys doing for the guest book? I've been the post card, thumb print tree, book, etc... I am really torn between just not having anything to something creative and fun. initially I wanted to have a photo book...always wanted to have the actual photo booth for that's not going to happen. I got less than a month to finish up last minute stuff and I have not decided on what to do. Any suggestions? Am I over-thinking this?

We are getting postcards to put into our OOT bags with a little note. Please fill in a postcard with your favorite memories of the trip or well wishes for the couple and then have them put it into the mail.

 

If you want the photobooth idea. Get a few cheap one use cameras/or a digital camera and set them up on a little table. Leave a note to ask guests to take a picture of themselves and leave a note with their well wishes. After the fact, you can get the film developed or the photos printed and you'll have a photobook. Good luck.
