Possibly you could do something like small plates and rent out the room of that nice restaurant you mentioned from like 2pm - 6pm and that way people wouldn't be expecting a full meal. I don't know how you feel about that but it is just a suggestion. My family might not go for it and would want to eat ( ;-) ), but I've attended something done tastefully and in a classy manner that was similar. Just don't stress yourself out, whatever you do!!!

And Amanda, I have not even began dress shopping yet, but that price for alterations seems awfully high! I hope you can find something alot cheaper!

That was actually a thought because the restaurant I mentioned actually specializes in tasting plates and they're really good. So, I'm definitely going to keep that in mind. Thanks for the suggestion!

When I bought it the sales girl told me the alterations would be an easy fix (Like $400 or so) and I thought she'd be right. Such a bummer....now I am desperatley trying to find someone to do my alterations in my price range. It's just scary because I want my dress to be in good hands. Wish me luck ladies.

Oh no!  That is crazy!  Best of luck in getting the alterations at a more reasonable price!

I needed very minimal alterations and mine was $250.  She put in cups, resewed some of the buttons, took up the straps a touch, pulled up the hem on the very front just a hair, and then cleaned it (I bought it off the rack).  I was told that to do a full hem normally runs twice the amount I paid for everything.  Good luck!

Thanks for the support and the input.

Problem is my dress is probably about 8 or 9 inches too long (and I am 5'3''). It's al vinatge looking spanish lace so apparnetly it is hard to hem and keep the same edging. I also need the straps taken up a hair and the dress taken in. I wanted to change the neckline a tiny bit (it;s square and I wanted the center dropped about 1/4 inch. She also said something about adding boning but I'm really not sure why that is needed.

My 1st wedding..I am pretty sure that I only paid about $300, and they had a LOT of things to chnge...they took it in...hemmed the crap out of it (I'm only 5'2") and then because I am abnormal and decided to not care about dieting the very last couple of weeks before the wedding as opposed to crazy dieting..they had to then let it out just a couple days before the wedding :)

Well that makes me feel a little better. I have been on yelp and foind a lady here that sounds goood. Hopefully she can help me. The only problem is finding the time to do it with a 1 year old. Man I wish I lived closer to family!

This is definitely your calling. You already have a fan base/potential clients right here on the forum.

Thanks girl! I appreciate your compliments :)

Haha, man I have been hardly able to get on here anymore, feel out of the loop!

HI all

hope you all had a great weekend, I got all my pictures this weekend. OMG the photographer did an amazing job on capurting things I didn't think he could.  he has a picture of a tear going down my husbands cheek. also he stayed for the reception and took pictures of everyone dancing and partying having a good time.  Taking shots (even my mother taking a shot) pretty nuts.

I am glad i flew him in cause he was worth every penny.

I have Carolina and so far she's been really good.  As a matter of fact each time I deal with her I'm more and more pleased.  Given that I'm sure she has well over 100 other brides I feel like she's really on top of things and doesn't take too long to respond to my emails.  Maybe give her a call to get the ball rolling?

Went to go look at a dress today..but pretty sure it's not the one...It's short and has 1 sleeve..very cute...but looking at it I couldn't actually picture being married and walking down the aisle (or beach) in it.  But I can totally see changing into it and wearing it AFTER the wedding at dinner or some other celebration.  Super Cheap..so definitely an option for that...but...guess I have to keep looking....

Haha I know what you mean!  I found the cutest dress to get married by the justice of the peace, but not for the wedding in Mexico!   i still need to go try on more dresses, it's pretty fun though!  Or you could get the cute dress if you are going to do a TTD.  I don't think I will, FI is not into posing for any more pics than he has to.

WOW... $1100? Are you kidding me? You have to find someone who can do it for a cheaper price. I will be also cautious about the quality work too. I hope you find what you need!!!
