Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies!

It has been a couple of days since I posted... I've been AWOL.

I have some icky news...

So, on wednesday I get a call from my dad -the person walking me down the aisle and the only blood relative I have coming to my wedding- he fell and was calling form the ER.

those of you who are squimish -don't keep reading.

Turns out, he tripped over something(?) on the side walk, went flying through the air, ripped the cataract off his eye, ripped the eye open, it started to bleed near the back, which in turn pushed everythng out of it... he had emerg surgery on wed night.

So, he is now 100% blind in his left eye, it is filled with blood so it is red and has a lot of pressure, and he may have to have it removed. He also has a wicked purple and red bruise on the left side of his face, as well as some scabbing, though he didn't break any facial bones.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!

The doctors think he should be able to travel still -we are leaving one week today- though his girlfriend was trying to figure out if there was a train or something from Vancouver to Cancun -no such luck.

Here's the piss of though. He's going to feel like crap. Here we are heading down for a lovely week in the sun to celebrate the one and only wedding of his only child, and he is going to feel like crap the whole time.

Though we are considering dressing him like a pirate and calling him "Pirate Jim". Kinda funny.shitfan.gif

Kay, just needed to vent, thank you. I appreciate it.

I think i need a drink -he probably does too.shots.gif

ITS A WEEK BEFORE WE LEAVE AND I FEEL LIKE PUKING!!

sorry -thanks

Oh my gosh Allisa, I feel so bad for you and your dad. Is the recovery time going to be a while?? Maybe he will feel a lot better in a week?? I bet his bruising will be a lot less noticeable in a week too...I know i don't know how bad it is, but just trying to optimistic. I don't know what to say really about that other than it just really sucks! You will still have a fantastic time and try not to think about the bad too much!! Easier said than done though! Go have your drink!

Thanks Meghan! I am hoping he is going to feel better... I am really hoping the pressure in the eye goes down, so he can fly. He just has been in a lot of pain and they don't expect that to subside too quickly.

However, the doctor has put him on the highly addictive Oxycoton and it really takes the pain away and seems to put him in an almost silly mood... so he may just be high for the wedding, but he should have a good time. I can handle that.

Absolute craziness. Needless to say, I have also fallen behind on my prep for leaving.

We are on a plane one week today.

Allisa - I hope your dad feels better! I'm so sorry to hear about that!

I have a couple stupid questions I was hoping you ladies could answer for me! I just spent the last 3 hours reading through past posts - it was sooo fun!

1. Who do you contact to speak to someone about options? I called the 800 number listed on the website but no one is ever available to take my call so I left a message yesterday...

2. Were you able to get a group rate from the hotel? Was it a decent rate?

Allisa I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope he recovers quickly! Just don't stress, wish for the best for him and even if he is a little "high" during the wedding at least he'll have fun and won't be in pain.

If you feel overwhelmed try taking a walk around the block and just clear your mind. I know that might sound weird but it always helps me escape for just a moment.

We're all sending you our positive thoughts, you can do this, don't worry!

Hi Lilly -

I've never called so I can't help you there I'm afraid. Have you been assigned a specific wedding coordinator? They have a direct line you can call.

I got a group booking through my travel agent with a pretty good price locked in for a specific type of room, the swim up suite which was much cheaper than going directly through Karisma. Just depends on your travel agent though.

OMFG Allisa. Hang in there. I am sure your dad will do everthing he can to get there. And if he is in pain, mix the drugs with some tequilla. I do sort of love the pirate bit...

Let us know if you need help with anything. I would come over and help you pack or something but we are a bit far away. Have another drink, and a walk. Maybe go kick boxing or something, too.

Sorry it took so long to respond...I had a personal heart cake. The one that comes with the gold package. We did teramisu for the guests as part of their entrees. No one ate desert because they were having too much fun. One of the best decisions I made.
