Both my sister and Mom avoid the topic of booking like the plague! My mom hasn't even given me a for sure yes! Ugh. I just keep telling myself that it will all work out. I guess I was just curious as to how your guests were cooperating so that I know for my own peace of mind that I did not make a poor choice in terms of a TA. I felt it was a good deal, you obviously did and so do your guests! So that alone makes me feel better!

Meesh - good luck! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!

What is with family! At least this didn't happen to you...

I've been engaged for almost a year and a half, I've tried every way possible to get my mom to tell me if she's coming or not, she says EVERY single time, "I don't want to talk about it now, let's talk later" Later never comes.

Then I went with her to her company party last week and all her co-workers gushed about my save the dates and my wedding website and loved it so much and asked all these questions and then it comes out, one says, "we're on your side by the way, we can't believe your mother's not going!"

Gulp.... all of the women she works with know she has no intention of coming to my wedding and this is how I found out. I kept thinking she wasn't planning on it but I also kept telling myself it would work out for the best. Oh and also, my father is past away so now I have no family that will be attending my wedding.

I even offered to pay her whole way there, flight, room, everything.

Makes me sick to my stomach.

I booked with Thomsons in January 09 and only had my confirmation last month!!! We have had to chase them for everything!! It was only when we said we were putting in a formal complaint that they processed the wedding booking form and we had our wedding date confirmed. We are still waiting on confirmation for our two week prices from them. I am on the phone to them nearly everyother day.
They keep telling us that everything is fine and everyone is booked and when they eventually gave us some confirmation there were loads of things wrong (ie prices, names, room types).

Anyway we are getting there but very slowly.
My only advice would be to keep on top of them and keep pestering them for confirmation.

The one good thing is the wedding co-ordinator is fab!! She replies within 24 hours and supplies lots of pictures

Can I just ask, has anyone had a problem booking Claudia photogrpahers at the Sensatori? I really want Claudia Photographers but my wedding co-ordinator has emailed me saying that they are no longer approved at the Sensatori? Has anyone else had this problem??

Hey Aneliese,
It is true that Claudia is no longer approved at the Sensatori. I emailed Grace (the wedding coordinator) and Claudia asking if this was the case. Claudia emailed me back and told me that it is true. Only people who booked Claudia prior to today can still use her, otherwise she is no longer approved. I have no idea why this is....I didn't ask. Luckily I booked her just a week and a half ago! It's pretty disappointing though...she and her team look amazing!

KittenHeart that is terrible!! What is her issue with going?? It must be something else aside from cost if she wont' go even when you offer to pay! Family and friends can be so stressful when it comes to stuff like this. I don't know why people can't just be supportive. They must not realize how important this day is and how they are letting us down by acting this way.

I hate to hear that some of you are having so many problems!! A destination wedding is supposed to be carefree and it sounds like a lot of your families are making it a pain for you! Whenever I start whining about who isn't coming, my FI reminds me that the only thing that matters is that the 2 of us are there. He's right! As long as it's the two of you, it will be perfect!

I am not sure if this is different for me being in the UK but we booked the whole thing (wedding package and all) through our TA and it's now been a month we've waited for confirmation of our prefered wedding date.

really starting to panic as the whole time they're not processing ours, more people who are going direct could be taking the date we want. I wouldn't be panicking so much if we weren't restricted to just one date during our 2 week stay - my mum and brother are only coming for a week and once you've taken into account the 3 full days you have to be there before you can get married (and the national holiday in our first week) that only leaves one date before they go home.

arrrggghhhhh!!!! sorry...my turn to offload! lol

Katie.

Katie,

Did you pay that $200 deposit for the wedding package? When we were booking back in January I kept asking my TA if the sunset wedding was available on our date. She told me the resort wouldn't even check for me until they got our $200 deposit. Once we got that in, it went pretty quickly. I am blessed to have a TA who works really hard and stays on the resort about everything constantly!

That is so strange! I wonder what happened there? Claudia gets so many raves for her team's work - without her as an option, there aren't many options, are there?

The 2 options I was given was Caribe Photos and Matias Cano Photo - and that was at least 4 months ago! They told me then that there weren't any other options so now I am mad that this Claudia was an option for me. I asked here on the boards about them but didn't get much response back. Neither of them seem very creative or artistic. On each of the websites, they have a wedding gallery but nothing jumps out. One of them even has a girl with a glass of champagne and a cigarette! Why would they use that as one of their "big seller" photos? Anyway, these are the 2 photographers listed on the website. We decided it was important enough to take our photographer with us and have her stay as a guest. It ended up being close to the same amount of money and I think we are getting a better deal. She is going to be taking pictures practically all weekend instead of just the ceremony and reception.

Hi Girls...so I am finally sitting down to write my wedding review. First let me say that my wedding was breath taking. There is NOTHING to worry about. Roberto and Veronica were our on site coordinators. They are VERY organized and so polite. Lets start with day one. We arrived on the Friday before the wedding and had our guests arrive on Sunday. This was def the best thing we could have done. We had 50 guest arriving and thank god we had our alone time because when guests arrive you are always entertaining.

We were greeted with Champagne and cold towels. This was not always the case as I noticed some of our guests arrived at a more busier time and there was no champagne or towels presented to them.

We had our wedding meeting Monday at 11am. When we checked in the first day they gave us a letter from the wedding coordinators with the blood test and wedding meeting times for the witnesses. Witnesses only stayed for 10 minutes and then they let them go and you and your husband finished verifying everything. It took about 2 hours total.

Jumping to the following Friday (Our wedding Day). I had set up for all 5 of my girls, and my mom, Jeff's Mom and my Step Mom to get hair and make up done. We started the appointments at 9am and we were done at 3:00pm. They had two girls working on us and they did a fabulous job. I had my rehearsal hair done the day before and I was very disappointed as I brought a pic for them and it did not come out even close. I was SO scared for the wedding day. I would DEF recommend choosing from their styles as these are the ones they are good at. The make up was done perfect for all the girls. As far as the nails go....not a great idea to get them done there. Did not care for mine at all. The toes were perfect though.

So I went with "Mexican Wedding Photo" and they were amazing. They caught every shot I could possibly want, and they were always there at the perfect time. They were a little late and did not get my husband getting ready but that was because they did not know I was at the Spa. Anyways...they said "I was theirs" so whatever I wanted them to do they would do. The only problem I did have was that they did not recommend any types of poses. I made them all up, which I thought was weird. They did not speak good English but enough to get by. I just got the pics overnighted to me and they charged me $60.00 to Fed Ex them.

I will share the link as soon as I get it.

The wedding was perfect, music was amazing and there is no reason to worry. I had a CD made up with all of our ceremony songs and labeled them. Roberto and Veronica really knew what they were doing. No need to have a guest take care of it.

Jeff and I read our own vows and they had us say theirs as well. I asked for this and they did do it for us.

We had 15 guests arrive on one day and we tried to have dinner at the seafood place and they would not let us all sit at one table. We saw two managers and no one would let us. They are very strict on that policy.

PROS

The rooms are beautiful.

You bring the party with you.

Everyone is SOOOO nice. You should meet Lazer (Bell boy) so nice!

Everything was perfect. They cons above are NOTHING compared to the good times and good people we met.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

THE END!

I just spoke to Lorraine at The Wedding Holiday and she seemed great. Thank you so much for reco. Have any of you had the experience where you held less rooms than people booked? We may possibly have a much bigger number than we originally expected (over 120!!). I'm not sure how best to plan for that.
