To all, I am having great difficulties getting my guest that have told me that they are def coming to book their room. Unfortunately most of these people that have not booked are from my wedding party. Very sad fact and upsetting. Most have told me that they want to make sure they have all the money in their account. Another excuse is they are waiting for their friends to decide if they have enough money to go. Im pretty sure if you do not have enough money saved up at this point most likely money is just not going to appear out of now where. Sam and I were invited to a wedding in Panama March 2016 and we already started saving and booked our placed. Im not quite sure where these pples heads are at.

 

I have told them over and over again all they need is $100 deposit then pay off everything August 15th when the whole amount is due. Every time I tell them I get the same response "oh I didn't know that, that's great I will do that." Then no reservation made. I have told all these people that have not made the reservation that once August 15th comes around our room block expires and there might be a chance they not even get a room.

 

Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to "light a fire under these people's asses" to get booking?!

@@ACJCWed I am sure your wedding block is about to expire to since your wedding is just 2 days after mine. Are you having any problems getting your guest to book their rooms? I am flabbergasted at this point at peoples lack of planning and thinking especially when traveling to one of the most popular travel destinations in the world.

I'm looking forward to the responses you get. I'm currently chasing down my delinquent RSVPs (why can't people just no sorry can't make?!?). Our room deposits/full payments are due by the end of August so that chasing around is about to start!

@@carrieandsam are you using a travel agent? If so, Gayle (my TA) wrote an email to me that said.somwthing along the lines of "hi karla and bill,

The deadline is quickly approaching. You have only 6 guest rooms left in your block. If not booked by Aug _ , the hotel will release these rooms. The hotel right now is about 80% booked. I would hate for your guests to stay at a different resort and not be subject to the day pass fee of $100." You get the jist. Then we forwarded that email to our guests. May help if they hear it from someone else

Yes we have told our guest that there are 10 weddings that weekend and only 400 rooms at the resort but still no urgency from them.

My ta hasn't sent me that sort of email tho. That's really good. Who did you use?

I used Gayle Hirsch. She is an agent here in Texas. Works for herself. She is awesome. But suggest it to your TA. She should not have one problem doing that. Im looking for it to send it to you but i cant locate it

I'm getting excited! Picked out the BM dresses and colors yesterday. Letting the girls pick their own dress, just needs to be chiffon and then assigned them each a color. STDs went out this week so now I just need to motivate ppl to actually put the deposit down. I'm sure I will be chasing around for that. Struggling with my dad though. He doesn't have much money and doesn't like to travel. So I get why he wouldn't want to go. But it will still stink not to have him there to walk me down the aisle. On the other hand I would have to entertain him if he did go... So trying to just stop thinking about it and accept the "it is what it is" mentality.

I sent to my guests postcards with "riviera Maya" on it as a reminder and a note kindly pushing lol. people who will go know by now, many said would go but didn't happen. Count on a "no" for those who give you an unsure answer.
