I tried posting last week, but it disappeared... I'm new to this.. clearly lol.  We're getting married at AS Jan 14, 2014 - Any other brides there that week!?

Anyways, hope this post works!!

Happy planning.. I'm sure I'm going to have 100 questions as the date gets closer!! :)

Hello and congratulations!! I'm getting married February 8, 2014... We're pretty close :)

I've been paying particular attention to the weather lately, and I'm curious what it's going to be like down there during the winter months.

What all have you started planning so far? We're SUPPOSED to get our RSVP's back next week so I hope to wrap up planning here soon. Crazy how it all goes by so fast.

We went down for our site visit in February and it was BEAUTIFUL the whole time!

I've been planning my wedding since February and have already gone through 3 planners (elizabeth, perla and now Fabio). Fabio doesn't seem to have a sniff so I'm starting to get concerned! Hopefully they hire some more experienced planners before my date!....

I am using Lynda, and I have found it frustrating because she isn't super forth wright with information (ie: its your wedding, you tell me what you want" type response) I am not too sure if that is standard or just me not really knowing what i want but with my wedding in February 2014 - I usually give her 3-5 business days to respond before I follow up (which i haven't had to do yet) and when she does respond, it got enough information for me to get me to my next wall of questions.

I'm a little of a type A and want to have everything figured out right away so this has been a process letting go a bit - but this forum is really good at answering a lot of the questions that have given me the most anxiety! Good luck planning! :)

Congrats to you too!! We've booked the ceremony location (rooftop) and reception (on the beach with a bonfire!) so far and the dj. When I read that the dj provides glow sticks and balloons I was sold lol. I think we're keeping the dinner pretty simple to keep costs down. I was all ready for the big Mexican feast but our wedding planner (in Ottawa) suggested to keep it simple since our guests will be eating amazing food all week that's already paid for! I appreciated that tip :) How far along are you? We have a few stragglers in the RSVP but not many left! 52 have booked so far :) and they all came flooding at the last min. So get ready :) The weather is also something I'm always reading about!! I'm with you on that one!!

Hi Kaleigh!

I am a type A/planner/detail person too, and planning a destination wedding really challenges that. From what you've said, so far your experience is pretty typical. Part of it is that your wedding is a bit out, so they are focused on the most immediate weddings, and another part is that they will try to accommodate pretty much anything you want - it is your wedding after all.

Check out both the OFFICIAL Azul Sensatori thread that Murmel (Miriam) put together, and you can also look at the OFFICIAL El Dorado Royale thread - they both have a lot of the info on Lomas and weddings for the Karisma resorts, and may help answer more of your questions.

The last thing to keep in mind is that you will meet with the onsite coordinators at the resort - usually the day after your arrival. They will go over your spreadsheet with you in detail, and you can make updates then too. They are pros at this, and they will take good care of you!!

Thank you! The rooftop ceremony sounds beautiful and I love the bonfire idea on the beach! We're having the ceremony on the beach and the reception at Plaza Zavaz. Are you using DJ All Music? That's who we hired for our DJ and yes, I hear they have props which is exciting lol. I totally agree with you about keeping the food simple. We're taking the same approach by having an informal cocktail hour, as I don't see the point in paying for a private cocktail hour when guests can just drink and mingle at one of the bars.

Right now I'm working on processional order and music for the ceremony. I'm using my iPod for this and lately I've been so nervous about mishaps happening and timing, etc. Once we receive all the RSVP's back then I'll start working on place cards, table numbers, seating chart, OOT bags and wedding favors.

That is so awesome you have 52 guests confirmed already. We were hoping for a much larger turnout but will probably end up with 50-60 guests, and I'm really happy with that! I'm sure your right about the RSVP's all flooding in at the last minute. I'm still waiting to hear back from 100 people. I just keep telling myself to breathe :)

If you are using an iPod for your ceremony music, check out My WeddingDJ. You can buy it at the App store on your iPhone/iPod. It's really easy to program the songs for Processional, Recessional, etc. and add pauses or have it play continuously. I am very pleased with the results. Do you know what you are using for the Bride's Processional? I'm using an instrumental version of 'Tonight We Celebrate Love'.

A question for anyone who has booked the photographers or DJs recommended on the Lomas Travel website - did you book throught the website or did you ask your Miami wedding coordinator to book for you?

Hi Jenny! I did come across the WeddingDJ app and plan on checking it out. I'm not sure how I feel about the 'pauses' because we're doing a rehearsal the night before! I was hoping someone manning the iPod would just fade out each song at the appropriate time. I'm walking down the isle to an instrumental version of 'A Thousand Years' by The Piano Guys. I also like the cover version by Boyce Avenue but I think instrumental is so elegant. I booked my DJ through my WC so that it could be added to my detail sheet.
