Hey,

I was heavily considering the Sensatori, but my main concerns were the beach bugs and seaweed. I am a beach person and I would hate to have to sacrifice these aspects on my wedding get-away. Were you able to go in the water?

Thanks,

Hey everyone! Less than 2 weeks until we leave! I need your opinions on something....does anyone think it is worth it to stay in the Premium section? We have to decide between a regular Premium room or a Swim Up suite in the adults only section. None of our guests are staying in Premium so us staying there could be a good or bad thing haha. Not sure if the benefits of Premium outweigh having a swim up suite? We have looked at the room types so much but it is just confusing us more. Thanks for your help!! Ps- we leave on Feb 9th and we had 2 more guests book last week.....ahhhh!

I was debating this very thing when we first booked.  Ultimately, we decided to be closer to our guests and booked a swim-up in the middle section of the resort where our parents are staying along with about 10 other guests.    This being said, we have a second week booked at El Dorado Maroma in the premium section so we will have lots of honeymoon time.    The adults swim-up section will be a very convenient location for your guests to visit but you probably won't have as much privacy being on the ground floor.  We stayed on the 3rd floor of the adults section last year and it was super private on the balcony and the ocean view was really nice to have.

I know the premium section has amazing service but unfortunately, you may not be able to enjoy the benefits that go along with a premium room (ie, your own pool with better butler service, beach beds...) if you will want to be near your guests during the day because they would not be allowed in that section anyway.        I hope this helps and doesn't confuse you more!

Beautiful! We are doing trash the dress pics as well. My biggest question is did you literally trash it afterwards or did you take it home? If you took it home how did you get it dry in time? Our TTD pics are Saturday and we leave very very early Sunday am.

Our ttd was on Saturday as well and we left Sunday morning. Because we also had pics on the beach the sun did a very good job of drying the dress. The dress was still damp when we got back to the resort so I just hung it up and kept our patio door open and the breeze completely dried it before we left on Sunday morning. And yes the dress was totally trashed because a lot of the stitching ripped open but I still wanted to keep it so I brought it home and hung it up in the bag in the basement. If I even attempted to clean it I think it would really fall apart.

We stayed in the premium section because we were upgraded when we got there and so were some of our guests. I think that the best part of the premium section was the location. The building is on the farthest side of the resort so you don't get all of the noise in between buildings because there are no hallways. We were given amazing service there. We had a swim up suite but the sun does not shine on that side of the building so we did not hang out in the pool there. We did however use our hot tub outside almost everyday. There is also a section on the beach that is for premium guests only which really benefited us because it is right by the volleyball court which we used everyday and the waitress Nancy was able to make us a cabana bed or allow us to move the chairs over in front of the volleyball court. The thing that I can recommend is asking to get upgraded when you arrive if you dont book the premium section. Oh and you dont have to pay for Le Chique if you are staying in the premium section. I hope you have an amazing time! Congrats!

I think Zocalo would be perfect so long as it's not too narrow.

I'd love to see pics when you get back. and CONGRATS!

We had a reception with 63 guests at Plaza Zavas and it felt very private. No strangers walking around, etc. It's set off from the main area, and people have to actually walk down paths to get to the plaza, so usually people realize it's a wedding and just stay clear!

My reception will be on the beach from 7pm-11pm, is this going to be a problem? I don't want my guests being bitten while eating their dinner yikes!

It might sound a little tacky, but I don't know if you'll have a small table with a guest book/seat chart/etc., but perhaps you could buy a few bottles of bug spray and leave them there for your guests to use (with a cute note)? Most of your men will be wearing long pants so they should be okay. And it was only around dusk that it seemed bad. So hopefully later in the night they will have gone to sleep.

I'm so excited to have came across this forum. All the advice and feedback I've read so far is awesome and SO helpful!! Our wedding date is February 8, 2014 at AS. Any other February 2014 brides on here?! I'm in the somewhat early stages of planning... Sending out save the dates, selected ceremony and reception locations, and slowly working through all the details.

You've been added to the offical Bride Roll Call! welcome.gif

I am looking into different venues for the private reception and I think I'm leaning towards zocalo terrace is that the same as alfresco.

I was wondering if any past brides that used this/these location have a picture of what it looks like decorated. Trying to envision what I'd be working with but the pictures I've seen thus far haven't been much help. Please pm me and I'll give u my email as I don't have enough posts to open attachments.

Really appreciate it.

Thanks

I know there is a Zavas terrace (small stone patio close to the premium section), Zocalo terrace is the backside patio of the Mexican restaurant. For photos see the Official thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread

I think it really depends on your dress. I had a mostly lace dress and it took a beating and survived the wedding (which included stepping in black gum, and ripping a lot of the lining), trash the dress (salt water, pool water, hot tub), and 2 at home receptions!

My advice is once you are done, wear it straight into the shower and rinse it off in fresh water as best as possible. Then hang it up outside to dry as quick as possible. Then pack it and make sure to take it out at home ASAP to finish drying. Then depending on how it looks take it to a dry cleaner. (my dry cleaning saw my dress 3 times....and couldn't stop laughing the whole time!)

Please take a look at the Official thread for more info: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread

Personally there was very little seaweed (plus the resort sweeps it away daily). But it is not a great beach undecided.gif You can go into the water, but be careful of the old coral/rocky bottom. Plus it's quite shallow.

The only real bonus is if you upgrade to the swim up in the premium with the hot tub. Other than that, the rooms inside are identical, and for the most part you'll be at the other pools with your guests, so you will not be taking full advantage of the extra service. Personally I think the swim up room in the adults section will likely be a great choice. And should you be offered the honeymoon suite be aware they are in the middle buildings up high. Room inside the same, but the balcony oceanside is HUGE!

And super exciting to hear you have more guests joining!

Hi guys!!!!

I'm just starting to plan my wedding now (May3rd, 2014). I was originally going to have it in Los Cabos, but decided Cabos was way too expensive for just average resorts, when you can stay at amazing 5 star resorts in Mayan Riviera for the same price. So therefore, I'm inclined to picking Azul!!! However, I will be having 50 guest. Most of my guest are Latinos (like myself). We are party people, even if we're travelling with kids. Our kids party with us hahahaha. My concern is, I keep reading in Tripadvisory that this resort has very bad Entertainment service. Comments such as "if you want to party, this is not the place".

YES, ultimately this is where I want to get married, but my biggest wish is for everybody to the best time ever. Even if i tried, i'm not an "all about me" kinda bride, and I'm also very aware that you CAN'T please everyone....but! I do consider that it's important to find a resort that provides a fun atmosphere. I like fun! lol.

So can any of you tell me how this resort was in term of Entertainment services, and location near night district.

Do they have a salon where you can celebrate after the reception? with dancing and mariachis and the whole enchilada!

Would any of you mind what was the final quote you got for this resort's wedding package?

PS: I need as many tips as I can get, I never even imagine ever planning my own wedding as I always said I didn't care to get married. I decided that for my kids sake, mommy and daddy should set a good example for them by forming a strong family foundation around them. It's really all for them! my 6 year old is super excited and is already drawing me with wedding dresses :)
