Congratulations!! I have a soon to be 1 year old so that's definitely causing me some challenges. He will be at the wedding in Mexico with us.

Jenny -- what day are you arriving on the property? Not sure what decorations you're looking for, but maybe we can arrange to share some things.

Great, thanks for giving me some positive feedback for Lynda =)

So the resort won't allow you to bring in items provided from Fresa, if you pick it up off the resort & bring it in yourself? I'm trying to find some way to have Fresa provide certain items for the wedding, hopefully there's a way!!

Yes, we're doing a cocktail party before the reception. We did actually receive a free cocktail party [up to 50 people, plus $10 pp above that] from our travel agent, who's a GI consultant, so it was a perk of booking with them! But, we used the free cocktail for a "welcome party" instead. I wanted a different selection of liquor & hor d'orves, so we are paying for the wedding day cocktail. The WC suggested 5 pieces per person at the cocktail, and they have a pick & choose menu so you can choose up to 5 slections to have passed around at the cocktail. On average, it's about $2-$3 per piece, so figure about $15 per person X however many guests you're having. Hope that helps!

So, i'm trying to find a photographer but don't want to pay the stupid vendor fee of $800. I just checked the pricing for 3 nights at the Azul during my wedding and it's only $520 taxes in for single occupancy. Would this be a loophole to not having to pay the $800 if I book the photographer a room for 3 nights (even if it doesn't get used)? It's still cheaper than giving Azul $$. Do you think this would be allowed?

I actually asked my WC the same thing! She said it was fine. I asked her a few times to make sure and she said yes. So I am booking my DJ a room and probably a photographer a room because it is cheaper than the vendor fee. I am nervous that when we get there, that there may be problems but she said it was fine and I have the email. Hope it works!

Thanks so much! Was it served as a buffet style or seated?

I've put off wedding stuff for a bit and been away from this thread, so just catching up...thank you ladies so very much for the kind words and support re: lame bridesmaid.  Still kind of hurts, but am focusing on the positive :)

lazarach, that is so smart! I must look into whether I can save money this way! Anyone else notice the 2013 pricing has gone up even more?

Anyone have Erika Torres as their WC? I had Amanda previously.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday :)

Unless Karisma has changed policies again (which they seem to do daily!angry.gif) you were allowed to book a minimum 3 night stay and then you would NOT have to pay the outside vendor fee.

We simply told the WC that it was a "family friend" who was a professional photographer. NO issues for us at all. Mind you, we flew our photographer down with us, and he stayed the whole week- so he was a guest at the hotel.

Only thing I could see being a slip up is making sure the 'vendor' checks in and then out of the hotel. (otherwise they may say since no one checked in, that they are not a guest?) So maybe even have them check into the room, it's a great spot for them to put equipment, etc.

I have heard that's allowed, but I haven't asked myself.  You should consider, though, asking your photographer to split the $800 with you -- I've heard that several photographers (samuel luna, photos in cancun) will do that, which would be better than paying for a room for them (unless you also just want the extra space).

Hi Gina!

Yes, I did just hear back from my WC. She said no outside food or beverages are allowed onto the resort at all. So even if I brought it in myself from off the resort, they wouldn't allow it. I asked specifically for cakes & other foods, so it may work differently for deocrations. But, I'm sure they can't tell you no if you have outside deocrations, if you bring it in yourself. It seems with this resort that if any non-paying guest [vendor] steps foot onto the site, they're not allowed in without you paying the $800 vendor fee- crazy! Hope this helps =)

Has anyone decided what they are doing for food options? I am between the pick and choose and the petit gourment.
