Do any of you brides know what the area in Spoons restaurant is like for the semi-private reception.  I am only having 8 guests so it is a very intimate wedding.  I was just concerned if the area is to big, and how did any of you brides decorate the area, table runner, favours etc... Also is the wedding cake on display in there.  After the ceremony, the flowers on the gazebo, what do they do with these  Can I get them to bring them to decorate the table for the meal?  As I'm not having a private reception or big party, any suggestions on what we could do after the meal.  Any help and advice would be apprieciated.

This is all a mine field!!!!feedback.gif

Thanks Rachel x

We are doing the catamaran sunset dinner cruise as our reception dinner and are going through Lomas Travel for it.  I'm looking forward to something a bit different for the reception :)

Mwise beautiful pictures. Looking forward to seeing the professional ones!!

MrsKG2B,

Im having my meal in spoons have 21 people going. Its a table that is in the main eating area and they have a curtain going around it to make it feel more secluded. But you do have a limitation on how long you can have the table think it was two hours. So limited with speeches etc.

I did want to big a thing with the meal as its more about the two weeks with family so the meal wasnt a massive thing for me.

Think i am going to order table runner and votives to decorate and will use the bouquets for additional decoration.

As for the cake i have asked it to be there so just keep my fingers crossed that it turns up!!

Hope that helps.

Kerry

Hi Rachel,

Spoon will work out well for you. They have a small area (actually up a step) that they surround with a curtain to create your own personal space. Also they provide you with waiters just for you and your guests. I also think that it is a full sit down menu (not a buffet, like Spoon usually is), but you may want to check with the WC.... If you want the wedding cake there, just tell the WC and they will make it happen. The flowers can easily be taken from your ceremony site and placed in the reception area (I did this to help decorate the tables) You just have to tell the WC exactly what you want! Table runners (in many colors available) I think were $7/runner. They also have colored table clothes which I think were $15-20 each, but it sounds like you'll likely just be on one large table, so that might be an option.

After dinner, the Mojoito lounge upstairs offers live music every night. And usually the bands love requests, so maybe even if you have a favorite song (that's fairly commen) you might even be able to have them play it live as your first dance. If not, just dance the night away there! There are lots of couches, and lots of chairs around, so you and your guests could easily end up there to continue the party.

If you want something a little quieter, at the bottom of the stairs down from the lobby there is an outside gazebo with swinging beds and tables/chairs were you could also sit down there with your guests. Just ask one of the waiters from the Mojoito bar to come down and take drink orders! There is also a bar on the back side of the Mexican restaurant with a beautiful view of the ocean, if you just want to sit around and enjoy!

Hope that helps, any other questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for that Murmel,

Going to the Mojoito bar after the sounds like a great idea.  I know theres only both our parents and our 2 children going but I don't want the special day to be over once the meal finished.  After a few drinks I can imagine dancing the night away, not sure about FI !!!  I was thinking about letting of some lanterns on the beach once dark, would you know if the hotel would allow this?

Thanks R

There is no cost per person, I chose the pearl package which included a meal for 40 in the semi-private spoons.  As theres only 8 of us that all good.  The meal and my cake are included.  However, I am adding on lots of extras to make it special.  I believe it only costs pp when you request a private reception area.  I'm confident that spoons will be perfect, and as MURMEL states, 'going to the Mojito bar after saves me hiring a dj etc.. which seems pointless for 6 guests, I reckon the mojito bar will be perfect to continue the night celebrations. My dress isn't going to be huge just a simple ivory chiffon floaty dress so I shouldn't feel uncomfortable around strangers.

It's so hard to imagine and plan this without ever being there. I will arrive at Azul 9 days before I get married so I hope I will be able to tweek things before incase I get it wrong.

But I think it adds more excitement, not knowing exactly what it's going to be like cause I'm sure it'll be lovely

Not sure what kind of lanterns you're talking about, but there is usually no one on the beach at night, other than a security guard doing his rounds. So I am sure you could do sparklers with your kids or something else small without much problem. As long as it's something fairly small, I don't know that I would even ask the hotel...just play dumb! LOL

You will have a blast at the Mojoito bar, and don't worry there will be lots of people wanting to dance with the new bride. Have fun!
