Everyone was dressed up to go to a nice cocktail lounge, and I wore my wedding dress again (mostly because everyone keep asking me to see it).

Both events were 3 hours long with drinks and waiters walking around with small bite size hor'dourves. It was a great success, and we felt it worked really well.

I think you can choose however you want to celebrate at home, just make sure to not stress yourself out because of it! Keep it simple so that you can enjoy it :)

Ladies that have been to Azul S. recently...

My travel agent said some of the resorts in Mexico are not accepting American Dollars anymore!?  I don't know how to find out if Azul is one of them, as I was planning to bring down American with me!  (they said the will accept CC but I had a bad experience with that in the Dominican)....

They will accept Pesos....recently traveled there ladies...could you use your American Dollars on the resort?

UPDATE:

All of my printable projects are complete!  :)

(ok...I have a to get Ribbon to finish a few, and for the flower girl bucket)....but really, I am no longer printing things.  YEAH!

My dress is being altered this evening!  :)

The suits came in from studio suits and I really like them...Chris has lost some weight so his pants are too big, but just a few alterations for him too!

I have 2 full suitcases of "wedding stuff" (the maracas/pashminas killed me....)...so I am having to pay $20 for a friend to take one, and another family member is taking the other.  :)

I still have to take pics of Chris and I to put in our sand ceremony picture frame (I know, who does "engagement pics" 2.5 weeks before the wedding???)

I am definitely all ready to go, but am feeling a sense of calm (even after I had to add a guest which messed up my numbers etc.)...

I took pics of all my stuff, so will post it up here soon

:)

We are thinking the same thing, beach ceremony with the reception at Zavas Plaza.  The only thing that makes me nervous about that is I have read so many comments on how windy the beach is....but I guess that is all out of my control.  My colors are Navy, Brown and light yellow.  We were going to have the bridesmaids dresses be coral but changed at the last minute to Navy.  It would be great if we could help each other with decorations.  We havent even come close to deciding on anything like that yet, but I suppose the sooner we get going on that the better.  We also haven't decided on a photographer.  Is Claudia one of the choices Azul provides for you?  Right now we have about 20 people who have booked their rooms.  But I think more will book in the next couple months.

Have you booked your flight yet?

Which wedding package are you going with?
Are you thinking a DJ or ipod doc for music?

Just asking all these questions makes me realize that we have so many decisions to make....  Congratulations to you too!

My colors are coral and aqua blue. Maybe we can share some stuff. I was looking to bring my own fabric for gazebo and lights etc...lanterns maybe.
We are expecting about 30 people i think, maybe more. i will find out soon enough. It's hard to know because some people I thought for sure would come, can't and others i didnt expect to travel are now coming, so we will c. Have you chosen a photographer yet? I am going with Claudia but still have to pick which photographer we want.
Our friends are all really excited about the destination wedding, it will be a first for everyone and we have a fun crowd so it should be a great trip :) We just attended the last wedding of the season so now we're next :S Starting to get nervous. Yay, Im glad we'r not the only ones in March now :) Congratulations once again!

Hello Ladies!

My name is Jannell and I have been reading your posts for quite some time now and I thought it high time that I put my two cents in.

1. Where can I find out the cost of bouquets for myself and bridesmaids? How can I view the options available? My detail sheet has a listing for flowers but it is empty. Have any of you gone with real touch fake flowers? If so, where do you purchase them and were you happy with the quality/look of them in photos?

2. Our wedding comes with a complimentary dinner reservation for 40 at one of the resort's restaurants... has anyone done this? Should I stick with that option or get a private reception? I am guessing that I cannot do any decorating at the restaurant. I am planning on having a welcome BBQ or S'mores bonfire the day before the wedding so I don't want to spend even more on another private reception if it's not necessary...I just figured we could get married, go to dinner and then to one of the clubs to party...my concern is that I would miss out on the first dance, speeches etc. What are your thoughts?

1) Flower prices and samples you can find here: http://weddings.lomas-travel.com/planning/bouquets.php?category=BOUQUETS-and-Centerpieces&idc=19

I think my flowers were $60, and bridesmaids $50 each.... They were quite nice.

2) If you are doing a welcome BBQ or bonfire, you don't have to do a private event. It really depends on what is important to you. We actually used our "free dinner" as a brunch instead! So you could maybe use your money for a private dinner and then use the "free dinner" as a 'welcome dinner or brunch'. But in case you do want to use Spoon for your wedding night- They put up a curtain in the Spoon restaurant so that you have some privacy from the main area, and they also provide you with separate waiters. I am sure you can do speeches there, and then then do your first dance in the bar. When we first went to the Azul to check it out, there was a newly wed couple in the Mojoito lounge, and the band actually dedicated a song to them, and that was their first dance!

Melissa- don't panic! We were just down in Mexico (not the Azul, but close by) and US dollars were no problem! The hotel technically can't charge you in US dollars anymore....they still accept them. (it is a new government ruling that everything is suppose to be in Pesos...ie. when you pay for your spa treatment it's 1200 pesos, but they will happily accept 120US) (conversion is about 10 or 11 pesos to 1 dollar....)

So in other words your bill will say pesos! That's all :)

Also all the markets, taxis and tourist places still accept US dollars, although you might only get pesos for change if you don't have the exact amount.

And don't worry about using your credit card at the hotel! We have been there 3 times, always had stuff charged to our room and no problems whatsoever! I would be careful off the resort, but if you need to pay for extras at the hotel no worries.

Hi! Ladies - Like some of you I have also been reading your posts for sometime and would like to finally introduce myself to the group. I am getting married at Azul Sensatori on Nov 10, 2012 and just put my deposit down. Are there any brides from NY?

I know I do have time, but I would really like to nail down my photographer/videographer. I don't mean to ask a dumb question as I am sooo new to this stuff, but does a photographer normally bring a videographer? Or is the videographer completely separate? I feel this is one of the most important parts of the wedding and I am willing to pay a little more and save on other stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your help and guidance!! And congrats to EVERYONE!!!!

One last thing, not sure if anyone is having a cigar roller, but this is very important to my fiance. I believe it is $400 for 2 hours (?). They only roll Cuban cigars for 1/2 the time. But my fiance wants all Cuban. I have asked how much this would be and I am waiting on an answer. Once I know, I will post that info. :)
