Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I don't think Fabio is back. I emailed him about two weeks ago and haven't heard anything. He's got to be swamped if he is back.

One of the gals is having a meeting with him I think on Wednesday. We should get some good info from that!

Hi there - How was your overall trip? Did you do a site review? I'm sorry if I'm an airhead and missed it. Any info you have on your experience that you could share with us...good and bad...would be great!

Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and so far all of the info on here has been pretty interesting and helpful. My wedding will be on 6/14/09 at the Azul Sensatori, I'm definitely excited, despite some of the bad reviews:) My travel agent was there on Dec 5th and said it was beautiful, but did admit there are some items that still need to be ironed out, but nothing that should be a deal breaker. I'm going to check out the resort with my fiance the weekend of Feb 6th so I'll definitely post some info/pics when I get back!!

I have a question regarding photographers:

I am flying in a photographer and am meeting the requirements of the min 3 nite stay, etc. however, my photographer has shot several weddings in mexico and has never needed the permit that the azul requires. she went to the consolate yesterday and they told her she cannot apply for it until 30 days prior to the wedding. She has been told by other photographers that it can take 9 months to recieve the permit after applying for it! So now she is not comfortable shooting the wedding becuase of the conflicting information and she is worried she may not get the permit and I will be without a photographer at the last minute. Does anyone know what their photographers are doing? Do your photographers have this permit already? Any information would be appreciated!

Johanna-please let us know what you thought of the resort. The Tripadvisor reviews have been concerning. We'd like to know how "one of us" perceived the resort!

Another Trip Advisor review....WTF! This is making me want to do a site visit soon and just see for myself.

I spoke with my TA and she said she's already had folks down there that loved the resort. In fact, she has someone there now who got sent there because AZUL Fives wasn't ready. He emailed her from Sensatori and said everything is fabulous.

I just don't know what to make of the whole thing. Is anyone doing a site visit in the next month or so? girl_werewolf.gif

I am flying in my photographer as well. I struggled with this, but knew I wanted to bring him with us. I have gone back and forth and how we've gotten around any permits and such is that 1. He will be staying the required amount of nights as a guest. 2. He has been instructed (if anyone asks) that he is a family friend and photographing our weekend as our wedding gift. Since they do not know if he is or isn't getting "paid", a work permit is not needed. I know this is a little shady, but it alleviates all the stress and hassle of any permits! I hope this helps!!!

My travel agent just got back...I asked her how it was and this is what she said:

----------

HI,

Mexico was great!

I really like the AZUL. I hate tripadvisor…basically …you need to stop reading it until March. The place needs to work through the kinks and get the staff accustomed to the environment. But, the facility is amazing. Everything glimmers of new. I know the rooms are very contemporary so sometimes, people just don't like that. I put a picture of the lobby in there so you can see how modern looking it is. If that is your taste, then you will love it. The food is amazing…so I haven't a clue why people complained about that. Karisma was voted by conde naste as the best food in Mexico and by Wine Magazine. I need to put you on a 12 step program. Don't read tripadvisor until March and take things with a grain of salt. Go through and read about other hotels in the Riviera Maya and see that no one gets perfect ratings…even the ones that have been in operation for years and rated 5 stars. Sometimes the weather is bad, people's flights are delayed, the rooms aren't ready when they arrive because check in isn't until 3pm and sometimes people are fighting with their spouses and that effects their review. IT is insane!! I can tell you this, I do think the Azul needs more umbrella's outside. I think the restaurants need to all be opened each night during busy season because I think when they are full, they don't have enough space when 1 is closed at night, I think the design has flaws in the bathrooms that are being refitted now and I think the staff needs to get with the program as to room upgrades, and handling guests--all of these things can be fixed in a few months. Won't you agree?

--------------

So thats good!
