Question to anyone who is having or has had a legal ceremony in Mexico (or at least the judge through Karisma at Azul Sensatori).  I found great information for ceremony scripts in one of the forum threads - I really like them.  However, today I spoke with the WC and she said that we were not able to alter any of the judges speech even if we were to provide it in advance.  I got a copy of what the judge says - and its ok - but not nearly as nice as some of the other ideas I read on here and doesn't incorporate a sand ceremony.  I was wondering two things:

1) has anyone managed to have what the judge says changed for the legal ceremony?

or 2) if it was not changed - did you/would you have someone from your wedding party speak before and after the ceremony adding other elements such as an intro and welcome, sand ceremony dialogue, etc?

Its only 3 weeks away and I feel like the details just keep stacking up!!! wacko.gif

I also was curious if anyone has heard anything about the Lomas DJs.  I'm having about 45 people at my wedding and don't want to deal with the stress of an IPOD and planning out everysong for the reception.  Is everyone just using an IPOD?

I just wanted to ask a question about DJ's. Who are you having and did you book through the resort and how much have you paid. I'm still not sure what to do at the moment there are only 18 of us going and was just going to do the Ipod thing, but we have more possibly booking so not quite sure what to do at the moment. Any advise would be great.

I am going with the ipod.  My sister is coordinating the music list for us.  I spoke to the WC about the DJ.  She said that they are not requested very often - in fact she personally had never booked a DJ for a wedding.  It says that they are available for 4 hrs at $1500.  When I thought about timing I felt that the DJ may not be utilized to his/her fullest:  reception @7 with welcome cocktails; dinner at 8pm with mariachi band for 45 min; opportunity for some short speeches - takes you to about 9/930.  Then DJ from 9:30-11 (b/c technically that's the 4 hr reception window - not sure how strict they are on that timing)?  But that is just my take...I've heard that brides at other resorts have had a dj and loved it - but the price was also a lot less.

If you do chose IPOD:  Iook at the lomas site "entertainment" section you will also find a pdf document with songs the DJ plays - wouldn't be that hard to use that as the basis for your selections.  Plus there are multiple lists elsewhere in this forum.

Speaking of receptions, has anyone done the "pick and choose" menu? Any tips or suggestions? We're sending out std/invite combos later this month and it seems a little early to ask everyone their entree choice for a dinner in October. But the pick and choose menus are a lot cheaper...and I like that it's pretty customizable.

For those who have done (or are doing) the buffet, which did you select and were you able to change anything? I really only saw one buffet option in the packet (the BBQ deluxe). It seems like a lot of food which is great but we're doing a cocktail reception with food right before so we may not NEED a the amount of food the buffet comes with!

Thanks for your help!

We are doing the family style buffet.  I like that the main dishes are tray passed.  We chose it because it has a little bit of everything and guests are not required to pick anything in advance.  Plus if someone wants to have some lobster tail, shrimp skewers and steak for dinner - they can have it all!

Having said that - we are not having a cocktail reception before the wedding.   We are having the cocktail reception as a "welcome party" a couple days after we get to the resort.  So our guests should be good and hungry for the reception on the wedding day!   Also - we have travelled with groups of people in the past and find that we usually don't have dinner until 8pm anyway - which fits nicely with how our reception is set up.

Good luck!

Just happened to be looking through another forum (post #16 in Bride getting married Jan 15, 2011) and came across this post from a bride re: DJ experience at Azul:

i just got marriedat the Azul Santatori on July 10, 2010, what a great fun hotel.  The wedding turned out to be a great deal of fun and things were planned properly.  I will say the one bad thing was and is the DJ he was HORRIBLE. we payed $1500 for the dj package that came with some bubbles, smoke stuff and glow in the dark things.  Well the dj hmm where do i start, down loaded our songs
first dance, mother & son, and father and bride, BUT never heard his download and admitted to this so needless to say our song got cut off in the middle (4mins into the song) and he replayed it from the start 3 times before we just sat down, same thing with moher and groom song and so on.  He spoke so low that we had to repeat what he said and got things wrong like on the micrphone he said very low and now mother and bride dance instead of groom but didn't correct himself.  We luckly had a friend bring his laptdop down from his room and he played the rest of the music for us but...yes the dj was HORRIBLE my ipod could had done a better job then the dj himself.

we complained and got attitude from the ownercof the dj company. first by calling my husband a liar because h said he didnt speak spanish and the owner said you have a spanish name and everyone here is spanish so either you speak to me i spanish or don't speak to me at all.

My husband is latin american but in reality does not speak the language and was very much offended by this man.  he refused to speak to my husband and therefore had to get a friend of ours to speak to him. (keep in mind the owner spoke english)

Can you post a link to that review? I want to find out who the horrible DJ was since we will definitely be needing one (we're having at least 80 people). This is scary, especially since AS doesn't give you options!!!

Thanks!!
