Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

OK trying to decide between BBQ buffet or plated dinner for private reception? What did past brides do and did you like it? Current brides what are you choosing and why?

I like the choices available in BBQ buffet but I don't know if it's "classy" enough for our wedding. We are doing the reception on the beach....if we did plated I would like them to accommodate like a beef and chicken type combo plate. Like they have the surf and turf petite filet mignon and fish so I would see if they could sub out fish for chicken....

thoughts?

Both are equally as classy. It depends on what you want for your guests and what you think they will like.

We did plated and they were very accommodating. For example: one of my guest wanted the surf and turf but had a shellfish allergy so they just subbed a salmon in lieu of the lobster tail and I'm a pescatarian so they just subbed the filet out for another lobster tail. We asked ahead of time for our guest that has the shellfish allergy and was told they would accommodate. Thankfully advised by brides that married before me told me to bring food counts in case onsite they did not get the info. The onsite coordinator had not received the information but I had the counts handy and they easily accommodated. With my food request for myself I was just going to give my filet to the hubby and he would give me his lobster tail but the onsite coordinators said they would just give me an additional lobster tail instead of the filet. Very accommodating down there.

FYI. Just a follow up. Azul S does require passport for Legal or Symbolic ceremony, but only for legal name. I was able to send them a photocopy of the passport with all the important numbers removed and it met their requirement.

@@Berg999. I am getting married 6.16 and have the BBQ I can let you know after that how it was.

Has anyone had a guest that decided to go to your wedding last minute? This guest would actually room with someone who already booked a room. So would they get charged regular room going rate or the rate that was given to me for my wedding?

I am from Canada and because of the low Canadian dollar we wanted to be a little more cautious of our spending. We chose to have a plated dinner and picked a chicken option and a beef option (If you have 25+ guests you can choose 2 entrees, plus whatever the chefs vegetarian dish of the day is, but you need to know the numbers in advance and use place cards indication the entree choice). Our chicken dish is $19 per plate and the beef is $24.

Where we live in Canada, most couples do buffet style meals for their weddings because plated usually costs much more. Even though we are paying less than the buffet options, I think our guests will think that it actually is more and will enjoy something different. Also, since all of guests are staying at the resort for a week, we figured that they will get their fair share of 'all-you-can-eat' :)

@@LRosario I'm going through that now lol. They would pay the cost for 2 ppl in one room. So, my friend is staying with my other friend and she is paying her half, whatever the price would be for double occupancy.

Hey ladies (and gents),

Just wanted to share this with you.

Between our wedding and reception we are going to be having an informal cocktail hour where our guests will go to a restaurant or bar of their choice for drinks and light snacks while the family and bridal party takes photos. We will then have a 4 hour long private reception at Plaza Zavas. I was concerned that 4 hours would not be long enough for the 3 course meal, speeches, first dance, parent dance, cake cutting, dance party, etc. I was told that we could add extra time onto the reception for $15/person/hour which seemed like a lot to me.

BUT! I was looking at the cocktail party menu, and realized that you can have a 2 hour long Mexican Cocktail party for as little as $14USD per person. It is 2 hours long with your choice of appetizers and International open bar. I talked to my wedding coordinator and asked if we could do a 'cocktail party' from 9:00-11:00 PM immediately following our reception in the same location as the reception. She said yes, so we will be able to seamlessly transition to the 'cocktail party' without stopping the dance, music, bar, location, etc. The guests won't know that the reception has 'ended' and a 'cocktail party' has 'started'. Plus, we will get 2 hours of open bar and food for less than the cost of a one hour extension.

Hope that makes sense :)

@@jmp403 the four hours is plenty of time but that idea sounds awesome! It can be the after party very creative

Can't remember who was asking about adding the late guest addition but that happened to us. We had a friend say he could go 3 or so weeks before. He stayed with two guys that had already booked a room so there ended up being three and the late addition paid the same as the other two guys. Since the room block is done by number of rooms and not people there was no problem at all.
