Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

@@McGee2Be I can't believe that just happened to you!  I am now worried about my Feb 14th wedding - a week after your original date.  Did they give you a heads up that the resort was filling up?  Curious to know if the travel agent is putting guest's deposits towards another resort??    So sorry this happened to you (as if picking a resort/ planning a wedding isn't stressful enough).  I may run into this problem as well unfortunately :(

On a more positive note.. what resort did you end up choosing?  I'm sure your wedding will be perfect no matter the resort, as long as all your family and friends are there with you.

@@AngelaA Paying for a day pass and having your makeup artist come to your room to do your make up is a great idea. I would love to know if any other brides have gotten away with that! The concern I would have with this is that the hotel staff is probably very familiar with most local make up artists/vendors, so I doubt having them sneak in as regular guests will be easy unless your make up person isn't well known to the hotel. I can't afford to pay the vendor fee again either. Like you, I'm already paying it for my photographer so I'm trying to find a way around it. I'm really worried about having my hair and make up done at the hotel.... I just don't know what kind of work they do. I wish my wc had before and after photos for me to see. Has anyone read any reviews about the onsite hair and make up artists?

All the brides I know, or have reviewed the salon have been thrilled with the results! Just make sure to bring pictures of your hairstyle and makeup to help the staff visualize your dreams. Plus a few girls have even stated they were not happy, voiced their concerns and the salon staff would fix it until they were happy. Good products, MAC and something else (sorry forget the other brand). I would not hesitate to use the salon. Just be sure to book yourself enough time, since I have heard they take their time:)

@@rebepax Wow! It sounds like you had an amazing time. I'm so happy that you loved the resort...it makes me feel confident that I chose the right place for my wedding. :)

Thanks for the detailed review. Do you know how many guests are required in order to have the ceremony at the pier gazebo? I didn't realize there were 2 different beach gazebos and now I'm concerned that my ceremony wont be at the more private location. I'm going to have to confirm this with my wc because the last thing I want is a bunch of strangers in my photos!

Also, after reading your post, I'm reconsidering ordering a cake. I had read several posts from previous brides who said the cakes weren't good or very pretty and I was so disappointed because I really want a cake but didn't want to waste my money if they're really that bad. Thanks so much for this VERY helpful info!!

There is no set amount of people required for either beach location. There is a maximum for the Skydeck (I would guess around 60-80...but not sure) The ceremony and reception sites are first come, first serve....you could have a wedding at the pier with 2 people if you wanted to!

The cakes seem to be improving a lot. I think they got a lot of complaints and are now trying to fix the problem. Most of the recent brides have said the cakes were tasty.

Hello everyone!

My name is Alison and I am just about to make the final decision of having my wedding at Azul Sensatori. One question that I haven't been able to find out on my own is whether or not you can have receptions at the Sky Deck at Azul Sensatori. I'm not interested in the ceremony since we are going to Playa del Carmen for a catholic ceremony. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Alison

The SkyDeck is NOT available for receptions! If you do your ceremony there, they offer a cocktail hour, but that's it. It is mostly due to the fact there are no bathroom facilities available there.

Well ladies, it looks like I'm no longer getting married at Azul Sensatori :(

We were able to reserve 30 spots for 90 days with our deposit through Sunwing. We have about 50-60 guests coming. Our travel agent did warn us this was a possibility, although rare, the resort sold out with only 30 of our guests booked in, 2 months before the deposit deadline!

We were warned that the resort was filling up fast, and did pass the urgency along to our guests, but as I'm sure you all know, getting guests to book so far in advance is tricky!

We've done a lot of planning with the coordinator so far (venues, times, bbq, flowers) so at first we thought the rest of our guests could stay at a resort close by and just get day passes for the wedding. Unfortunately a good chunk of our wedding party didn't get in, plus it's just not the same having half your guests at another resort.

So our other options were to change the date or the resort. Hard choice, but we decided to change the resort. We went back to our original list and got quotes for a bunch of resorts, then picked the cheapest flight/resort package. Although the wedding package will probably cost a lot more, I'm happy that we were able to accommodate all our guests and even save them some money!

Just wanted to share my little wedding crisis in case someone else goes through this, definitely pick a resort big enough for your group! Even if you think it's big enough (like I did) destination weddings are becoming more popular and resorts are filling up earlier in advance.

Thank you everyone for helping out so much! Sad I won't be able to keep planning with all of you. Happy planning and Congrats everyone! :)

Sorry to hear you made to move resorts! But hopefully it will all work out in the end and you'll have a beautiful wedding surrounded by family and friends. Just curious, what resort are you moving to? Best wishes.

@@KendraS I know I can't believe it happened! Our travel agent did give us warning as soon as she heard the news. We warned our guests too but I don't think they believed it would sell out so far in advance, I know I didn't haha.

I really hope that doesn't happen to you too! Do you have a good chunk of your guests booked in?

Our travel agent was really good about everything, working on days off and everything! They did transfer the deposits over to the new resort without any change fees. So our guests that were already booked in just had to say what new room category they wanted.

@@murmel We moved to the Grand Palladium White Sands! The packages are a lot different but I'm sure we'll figure it all out. The good thing is that most of our group is booked in now, and it's a huge resort if we have any last minute guests!

Having everyone there to celebrate will definitely make it an amazing trip! Thank you for all the well wishes everyone, happy planning! :)

@@McGee2Be I'm sorry that happened but glad that you are rebounding! What was your intended wedding date? There's so many ppl who felt like we were nuts sending our save the dates so far in advance as well. They definitely laughed off our sell out warnings, but most did book within the allotted time...(one of the hard things about destination weddings a few of us here may have experienced.) good luck at your new resort!

@@cocosho Thank you, I'm definitely happy to have found a resort with availability for our guests and travel dates! Didn't want to change too many details haha. Although we did need to change the wedding date a few days. It was on a Saturday, Feb 7, now it's on a Tuesday, Feb 10.

The Grand Palladium only does weddings Mon-Fri and the only day available was the 10th! All of my guest leave on the 11th, so I wasn't too happy that everyone will be traveling hung over... although they probably would anyways! :P We'll be staying for 2 weeks though, so once they leave our honeymoon starts!

I know, it's such a challenge and hard because you don't want to feel like a nag! You can use my story to prove that it wasn't too early to send out those save the dates hehe! Best wishes!

Heading to Sensatori tomorrow for the dress rehearsal! Super excited other than the weather which is pouring rain, but expected since it's rainy season. Any last minute things anyone wants me to check on? I plan on taking a ton of pics.

@@McGee2Be  Thank so much for all your info... I'm so happy you found a new resort!  We definitely do not have all our guests booked yet and are about 2 weeks away from the booking deadline.  Fingers crossed it all works out for our group!  I have already booked our photographer (Dean Sanderson)   :)

@@murmel  Wonderful news about the positive feedback on the Azul salon for makeup and hair!  I was also worried at first, but you have put my mind at ease.  Love this forum!!!

Has anyone thought of doing silk flowers? Or is getting flowers off the resort a better option? I just think they charge way too much through the resort and I'd rather put that money toward something else!

Hey guys! My fiancé is creating music playlists for the wedding reception and he was wanting to know how many hours/ minutes to schedule for the dancing part of the night. What do you think?
