Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

@@AngelaA Paying for a day pass and having your makeup artist come to your room to do your make up is a great idea. I would love to know if any other brides have gotten away with that! The concern I would have with this is that the hotel staff is probably very familiar with most local make up artists/vendors, so I doubt having them sneak in as regular guests will be easy unless your make up person isn't well known to the hotel. I can't afford to pay the vendor fee again either. Like you, I'm already paying it for my photographer so I'm  trying to find a way around it. I'm really worried about having my hair and make up done at the hotel.... I just don't know what kind of work they do. I wish my wc had before and after photos for me to see. Has anyone read any reviews about the onsite hair and make up artists?

In actually have read a few reviews about hair/makeup and they have been excellent, they use MAC cosmetics and all the reviews I have read were good! They do a trial the day before and take notes of anything you liked/didn't like... And sound like they do a great job!

@@rebepax Wow! It sounds like you had an amazing time. I'm so happy that you loved the resort...it makes me feel confident that I chose the right place for my wedding. :)

Thanks for the detailed review. Do you know how many guests are required in order to have the ceremony at the pier gazebo? I didn't realize there were 2 different beach gazebos and now I'm concerned that my ceremony wont be at the more private location. I'm going to have to confirm this with my wc because the last thing I want is a bunch of strangers in my photos!

Also, after reading your post, I'm reconsidering ordering a cake. I had read several posts from previous brides who said the cakes weren't good or very pretty and  I was so disappointed because I really want a cake but  didn't want to waste my money if they're really that bad. Thanks so much for this  VERY helpful info!!

Hello everyone!

My name is Alison and I am just about to make the final decision of having my wedding at Azul Sensatori. One question that I haven't been able to find out on my own is whether or not you can have receptions at the Sky Deck at Azul Sensatori. I'm not interested in the ceremony since we are going to Playa del Carmen for a catholic ceremony. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Welcome! I saw you were on Generations RM thread before/ we changed to sensatori for the same reason as you- as much as I loved the new resort, I didn't want to burden my family and friends any more than already with the increased cost.

I don't believe you can have your reception on the deck but there are other outdoor locations. You can do a cocktail reception on the sky deck but that's it.

Welcome to the Sensatori thread!

@@raqpena  The two weddings that I saw at the smaller beach weddings had 20 or less guests.  The one wedding I saw at the pier gazebo had 68 guests (including bride, groom and wedding party). I am expecting 50 guests and Azul booked me for the pier gazebo. I am not sure of the exact count needed but I hope that gives you a rough idea?

Either way, I think if you stress to your wedding coordinator that privacy is a must, they might have a few extra hands at your ceremony to stop guests or usher the guests around. Or at least I would ask.

Just personally, I don't know if I will be so caught up in the moment that I wouldn't notice. Or if I would notice and then you could see it all over my face??

So I'm going with the skydeck just to be safe!

Well ladies, it looks like I'm no longer getting married at Azul Sensatori :(

We were able to reserve 30 spots for 90 days with our deposit through Sunwing. We have about 50-60 guests coming. Our travel agent did warn us this was a possibility, although rare, the resort sold out with only 30 of our guests booked in, 2 months before the deposit deadline!

We were warned that the resort was filling up fast, and did pass the urgency along to our guests, but as I'm sure you all know, getting guests to book so far in advance is tricky!

We've done a lot of planning with the coordinator so far (venues, times, bbq, flowers) so at first we thought the rest of our guests could stay at a resort close by and just get day passes for the wedding. Unfortunately a good chunk of our wedding party didn't get in, plus it's just not the same having half your guests at another resort.

So our other options were to change the date or the resort. Hard choice, but we decided to change the resort. We went back to our original list and got quotes for a bunch of resorts, then picked the cheapest flight/resort package. Although the wedding package will probably cost a lot more, I'm happy that we were able to accommodate all our guests and even save them some money!

Just wanted to share my little wedding crisis in case someone else goes through this, definitely pick a resort big enough for your group! Even if you think it's big enough (like I did) destination weddings are becoming more popular and resorts are filling up earlier in advance.

Thank you everyone for helping out so much! Sad I won't be able to keep planning with all of you. Happy planning and Congrats everyone! :)

Wow! That's terrible!!! That's my fear too!! We are doing 48 seats on first contract.., and then of available will take another 48... I'm glad we are getting our contract so far out (will start ticking in July), so that even if we need a second contract it will be over a year out.

That's a good plan, definitely put some pressure on your guests to put their deposits in asap! Even though it's rare, it does happen as I found out haha. That's so good that you can reserve 48 spots, bummer we could only do 30 at a time!
