I can't believe I am involved with any blogs on-line...I am not a girl of my generation..I am not on Facebook or any other social media...I am not even sure I know what I am doing on this website..lol..I will say that threw reading these post you ladies have all help me TREMENDOUSLY!!! Thank you all for posting such useful information!!

I have a wedding planner/travel agent here in New York that has been an amazing help in the process of booking my wedding. I don't even contact the Azul coordinators because any questions I have I ask her and she contacts them and gets back to me rite away. Anyone looking to book a DW in the NY area I will be more then happy to give you her information. She is the best thing that happened to my fiance and I!!

I had planned on ordering all my decorations from Lomas however I also felt like they are a rip off!!! It looks like I will bring as much stuff as I can including chair bows, lanterns, seating cards ( I am using sand dollars), beach signs, sparklers, and maybe even table decorations..such as my own napkins, table runners and menus.

MY BIGGEST concern is music..I planed on having a DJ for cocktails and the reception. I know the outside vendor fee is $800 and I already gave my free room to our photographer. Anyone who used a Lomas Dj or has any help please contact me...

Also what did previous brides do about music for the ceremony??

Hopefully this helped a little.

My WC is Erika.  I had asked her for an estimated setup fee for the sheers, chair bows, and hanging lanterns to see if it would be feasable to bring our own.  She gave them to me individually.  Sheers - $100, bows - $5/chair, lanterns - $75.  This was just an estimate so who knows what the price will actually be.  I decided to only bring the lanterns and get the bows and sheers through Lomas.  Less I have to worry about transporting.

Has anyone heard any feedback for shipping things to the resort?  My WC does not recommend it (no surprise there) but she gave me the address if I wanted to ship anything.  My wedding is on a Sunday and we will be arriving on Wednesday so we were thinking of shipping the favors and try to have them delivered on Thursday.  I'm a little nervous about it.  Does anyone know/heard if anyone in the past has done this????

Good Afternoon Ladies

I leave today for the brides dress rehearsal weekend!!! I will be sure to take lots of pictures and ask lots of questions.

Jana I will ask them if you can ship items there.

Also does anyone know what the price for a shuttle or transportation to the resort from the airport should be. I keep hearing that it is crazy expensive. Just want a feel of what is fair when we are negotiating

I think she's qoutoing you wrong.  Those prices seem to be the price for everything if you rent it all through Lomas.  The white sheers are $100 each to rent ($150 for colored), the chair bows are $4 or $5 each to rent, etc.  If you bring that stuff on your own, they will charge you a set up fee, that when I was there in November 2011, was $5/per guest, which caps out at $250.  I brought chair sashes, palm frond fan programs, guest book tree, menus for each place setting, paper flower napkin rings, table numbers, escort cards tied to starfish, about 30 lanterns for the gazebo at Plaza Zavas, and......that's all I can think of right now.  Through Lomas I ordered the wedding gazebo setup (I think it was called Exotic Gazebo, and it included 2 sheers, and 2 large hanging corsages), and various other flowers and vases.  To set up everything I brought, they charged me $250 cash (I had 65 guests, so $5 apiece is more than $250, which was the maximum).  If you don't have that much stuff, they may charge less.  But the prices Erika quoted you are not for setting up items that you bring, that is to rent them from Lomas.  I would say definitely bring the chair sashes with you.  You can get them for less th an a $1.00 each, and they barely take up any room in your suitcase.  I personally thought getting the exotic gazebo package was worth it, so I didn't have to worry about the measurements of the sheers and all of that.

I would just make sure that Erika understands that you are NOT ordering that stuff through Lomas (if you decide not to), but just bringing it on your own.

Of course, there is always a chance they've changed their policies/prices since I've been there.  They definitely are always trying to find a way to get around the ways that brides find to keep the costs down and not pay Lomas so much.  But based on the prices she quoted you, they seem to match up exactly with what those items cost to rent through Lomas, so I think she was confused.

Jana -

I looked into shipping when I was planning for my wedding, because I had a lot of stuff.  The basic answer is no.  I'm actually surprised that your WC even gave you the address, because usually they just say that they will not hold stuff for you.  Basically what I found was that once your stuff gets to Mexico, the reliability of all of your stuff getting where you want it to be, in the right time frame, was extremely iffy.  I heard stories of folks having their stuff held (not at the resort), and having to pay a lot of money to get it back.  Also your boxes could be rifled through, and may not all be there.  My vague understanding of it is that once it gets to Mexico, it is no longer in the hands of a shipper that you trust ( UPS, FedEX, DHL, etc.), and can take much longer than expected, and/or not arrive at all.  I know I'm missing some of the details of how it all works, but the general consesus was, DON'T SHIP IT!  Sorry!  I know hauling all that stuff down there is a hassle, but at least you'll know where it is at all times!

First of all, have a wonderful trip!

As for transportation...if you have never flown into the Cancun airport, first thing to note, once you get through security, passport control, etc. and have your luggage-get out of the airport. In this I mean ignore all the people offering taxis, shuttles, etc. inside. You want to be standing outside in the fresh air. This is where the legitmate companies work! I have not used a taxi down there in years, but I remember it being about $75. However if you go online you could order prearranged shuttle service (either private or shared). They will range in cost of about $20-120.  We have been using Lomas transfers and they are great. http://www.lomas-travel.com/transfers/Shared  I have also heard from some brides that they have used American Express transfers. Hope that helps!

Hello Ladies:) This has been the most helpful site I have found. I am in the early stages of planning here, but alreay have so many questions. First of all does it sound realistic to have a ceremony and beach reception, plus our rooms and flights for around$5000.00. We will probably have around 50-70 people attending. We are only paying for our own airfare and room of course. I keep reading that alot of you bring your own decor. How do you get it all there?? I am feeling very overwhelmed and Im trying to stay positive:) Thanks ladies.
