Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Ladies I'm quite sad and hurt today...thus I need to vent a bit and figured you'd be likely to understand.  8 months into the planning process one of my supposed good friends and bridesmaid told me she's not going to be able to make the wedding; she made the choice to pick to go on a medical trip to South America over my wedding.  Being in the medical profession we are forced to make sacrifices in our personal lives to further our careers, and sometimes vice versa as well, but I thought that my wedding would have been higher priority.  To date I don't think she had even booked her trip or ordered her BM dress, so it makes me wonder if she ever had intention to go.  Throughout this process, I've learned some of my "friends" are not truly friends, but I didn't expect this from one of my supposed closest ones.  Given the general lack of excitement for this wedding abroad from others in conjunction with wide spread criticism, I am feeling disheartened and at the moment would rather elope....Sorry for the long rant, and thanks for listening!
First off, like some of the other ladies have said....sadly, most of us know what you are going through! I have had almost the exact same thing happen to me- bff since we were 8, bridesmaid, recently told me she cant come to the wedding b/c of finances. (touchy issue, I know, but I have known her my whole life and this has never been an issue for anything before and she had a year to save so it is hard for me to understand) We do have friends that would love to attend but we know they cant afford it and that is totally understandable, but they also arent going on other vacays and buying new cars, etc. Ya get where I am coming from? It is a huge slap in the face and makes you think about your friendship BUT on the other hand...we have some amazing friends and family coming that we never thought would be able to come. That being said, it makes it harder for us to justify one of our closest friends not coming. I have been trying not to focus on it too much and just focus on the awesome group we do have coming. This made me really sad when I read it b/c I went through the same feelings and emotions. But know it does get better and I really think this is part of planning any wedding, especially destination. So many people told me that I would learn a lot about my friends and the people closest to me....and I have! Im sure your friend will show you how much she cares by participating and helping with other aspects of your wedding but be honest and talk to her about it, it helped me! Sending big hugs from Calgary....which isnt that far away :D

My FI and I also did the dress rehearsal and loved it! We took a million pictures of the resort so to help with planning so if anyone needs pictures of a certain location or restaurant let me know and I will email them! I remember that they said we would get a free welcome cocktail party but could not find it is writing in any of the emails sent or in my notes from the day. Laura do you by chance know about the details of this party and have they remembered to include it?

I feel prior to booking my FI and I were offered so many perks and incentives but now that we are booked they are forgetting about them or not mentioning them. At least we were able to get the most important ones in writing.

They also told me that the time slot I wanted was booked however were not able to tell me if the bride was having the wedding on the sky deck like us or on the beach. They also did not comment on the size of the other wedding which worries me since we have a large group coming and trying to book rooms now.

I know they have talked about it past posts but has anyone recently done or planning to do a beach bonfire? My FI really wants this and I just want to make sure it is what he is expecting.

Hi Ladies

I definitely noticed the incentives died down once we signed the contract soo milk out all the good deals before signing and do not be afraid t negotiate.. we definitely did and are still negotiating 3 weeks before the final payment...

I told my planner that I attended the rehearsal and faxed her copies of all the vouchers given to us at the rehearsal

Here is the list of the free welcome cocktail party.

"• Signature drink -  • Beer, wine, soda • Gourmet Bites: • Caprese Bruchetta • Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Roulade • Caribbean Ceviche • Ratatouille vol au vent • Roast Beef on Mustard Brioche • max 50 people, $10 pp additional over 50"   We are doing the bonfire the night before the wedding.. I will report back in October on how it goes.    Hope this helps ladies...      Also I have a life long friend back out of a reserved room that day after my room release deadline... I was hurt... more so now that I know there is a Mediterranean cruise she is going on in Nov. Remember that on the day.. it does not matter who is there except for you and your FI. Have a glass of red, a piece of chocolate, and remember that how others spend their money is up to them.. and how they act reflects on them... whether its leading you on and/or being selfish or hurtful in their choices... hang tough and focus on yourself and your FI... hugs from VA

Hello Karisma Brides,

We have scheduled our Fall 2012 Wedding Webinar for Karisma Resorts for October 6, 2012 @ 6:00pm PST.

Gilberto Machain, an Inside Sale Associate and former Wedding Coordinator, will be a panelist and will give a presentation as well as be on hand for a Q & A session.

I will also be a panelist to answer your travel questions about rates, group blocks vs. individual packages, etc.

This is a great opportunity for current Karisma brides and grooms or those considering the venues for the wedding location to get your questions answered.

Hope to see you guys there!

Hi there, would you happen to have any pictures of the Salons?  I believe they are called Salon Sky, Salon Ocean, etc.  I haven't seen any brides on here having their reception there, so I am hoping to find some more info on this.  We would really like a private Reception with DJ and dance floor and I'm trying to figure out the best place for that, with 50-80 wedding guests.

Thanks for your help!

For Canadian Brides going to Sensatori:

Is anyone else finding that the prices quoted for rooms alone (when reserving a block) by a TA are almost the same (within $200 CAD) as the price for a package you can buy online through Sunwing or itravel200.com?

I am wondering if maybe it's just the TA I am using, but I cannot, in good conscience, ask my guests to spend more money than necessary to come to my wedding.  I would rather have more people I love be able to make it, then have the $450/night/person honeymoon suite.

Is it just me?

I am not sure about the names but if by Salon you mean very ugly back conference rooms I did not take pictures of those. They really just look like rooms from any normal hotel with little windows an no real feeling of Mexico or the elegance of the rest of the resort. We saw one wedding there while we were that and they had it as a back up to their outdoor wedding and worked fine but compared to the other areas around the resort I did not like it as a first option. I think my WC sent me some pictures of some receptions there so I can look and email those to you.

Hi Kristee!

Yes, I did request info a few weeks ago actually, and did not hear back =(

Since then, I did email my WC asking if we can have outside vendor for cupcakes & some decor brought into the resort- she said they don't allow any outside food into the resort. So, i asked what if I went out of resort and picked up some things myself, would it still not be OK to bring it back? I don't see how they can tell me no, especially if I'm the one to bring it into the resort. I see you mentioned in an earlier post that you are doing many weddings at the same resort, but I've learned their policies change almost weekly, which can become very confusing! Anyway, I'm hoping I can find out some more information on pricing & what services you offer, and I'll check with my WC if there's anyway we can make this happen =)

Thanks so much!!

Jenny
