i'm a powerpoint rookie...when i opened the template, all of the little palm trees showed up as the letter "f". Can anyone tell me how I can change those back to palm trees?

It's a font. Go back and read her first post and see what font was used. It's on dafont.com. Just download and install the font and you should be able to see it.
