Hello Ladies!

My FI and I just returned from our LC site visit last week. Love it love it love it!!! Here's my silly question though...I'd like to incorporate starfish into invitations, decor, etc. but I didn't see a single starfish while in PV/LC! What are you thoughts?

Also, has anyone been to Epoca? Kelley at LC suggested Epoca and Barcelona Tapas for our welcome dinnerhuh.gif

Thanks!

Welcome back! I want to know more about your thoughts on LC, what you liked, what you didnt (you know for those of us who have never been there!)

Anyway...although you maybe didn't see any starfish I don't see a problem incorporating them into your decor, invites, etc. It is your wedding do what you want!

Silly question for you....what is Epoca?

So does this mean you are "officially" an LC bride now?!

You can totally use a starfish. I never saw any there either but we weren't at the bottom of the sea much...LOL If you like them, go for it!

Never been to Epoca, we had our welcome dinner at Barcelona Tapas and I can't recommend it enough. Happy planning :)

Epoca is a seaside tapas (every time I say I tapas, I think "topless" which is really funny to me) restaurant in the Romantic Zone (I think). Kelley said the place came highly recommended by another LC bride. Epoca gave her a great deal, tapas and drinks for everyone for 40-ish people for like $500-$600. According to what I've read, it's the new up-and-coming tapas :) restaurant.

Barcelona came highly recommended as well!

LC goods: adorable, charming. Lots of hammocks and seating tucked away in the hills. I am confident that everyone will have a great time!

LC bads: I think it would be difficult for grandmas and grandpas to get around because the beach is lit only by candles once the sun goes down and there are many stairs. This also applies to drunk guests :)

We didn't have any other site visits scheduled which was a little scary but we both absolutely fell in love with the place.

A few suggestions...

1. Don't drink too much the night before because the early morning boat is treacherous with a mojito hangover.

2. I would highly suggest no high heals on LC or downtown PV because of the cobble stones.

When in PV, you must go to El Bodeguita del Media. Cuban bar w/ live Cuban music every night, awesome mojitos (see previous note). Great energy!

Mark and I wish we were getting married next weekend because we're so excited! P.S. We're leaving LC as a surprise for everyone with a note on their invitations to be prepared for a 45 min boat ride (will provide dramamine in welcome bags). :)

Going back to your original question about the starfish, if that's what you want to incorporate into your theme, then you should do it. Just because you don't see a starfish in PV, doesn't mean they don't exist. Besides, starfish are synonomous with the beach in general. It's a great idea. Personally, I'm doing a fleur de lis theme. No relation to the beach obviously, but it means something to me.

As for Epoca, sounds fantastic. I am, however, having my welcome dinner at Barcelona. We've eaten there several times and our friend who lives in PV is a friend of the owner. Love the place - can't go wrong with Barcelona Tapas.

Starfish- I don't think it's really about "seeing" them right? Some people use orchids as a theme but you certainly won't see them growing in the wild. Just my thoughts. :)

As for Epoca- I never ate there. I did take some pics of it when I saw it though because I've heard it's name thrown around on the forum and I thought it would be helpful to have some pics. I will look to see if I have them in my shutterfly account otherwise I will have to wait till I get home.

Great lil summary of LC. I will say that my grandparents (and drunk guests wink.gif ) were able to motate around LC. All they really have to do is walk from the boat to the beach- that's the toughest part. They don't really have to hike up all over those stairs like we brides do. BUT my grandparents commented how rushed they were to get to the wedding site once they left the boat. That's the only downside. They arrived late and had to rush so it made it more difficult for them.

I absolutely agree with everyone else - we've seen it all (as far as themes go) ... dia de los muertos, tuscany, morocco, spain, modern, and, yes, Starfish! What's important is that the wedding have meaning for you and your guy and you share that with your guests - no matter what that might be :).
