Corsage, bout or nothing at all ??

I'm not sure what to do here or if I should do anything at all.

 

My aunt is coming to the wedding. She is openly gay. She had a commitment ceremony to one lady and the relationship dissolved about 4 years ago. Since then she has been dating another lady. They own a house and business together and are exclusive.

 

They have been together for quite some time . For the wedding we are doing corsages for our moms, aunts and one very good family friend (I call her my 2nd MIL). We are doing bouts for my dad, his mom's husband and our uncles who are attending.

 

Should I do something for my aunt's partner? I know what it feels like to be involved in a family and to feel excluded. I want her to feel included, but I'm not sure what to do. If so - a corsage or bout?

 

Should I just call my aunt and ask her? I'm so confused!

That is a great question. I honestly think the best thing to do would be to call your aunt and ask. Better to ask, then to assume.

Hmmm- I never even thought about doing it for my aunts' significant others. I mean, I know they are my uncles (or in your case- another aunt. ) We only did bouts for moms, dads, and grandparents. Otherwise everyone at our wedding would freaking have one. LOL

celina, honestly, i would give her a corsage. she's a woman. just because she's gay doesnt change that. i guess though id say to call your aunt and ask what her partner would prefer - let her know you want to include her partner as part of the family, and i bet she will be so touched

that's very nice of you to want to make sure she feels included. I think a corsage would be appropriate, but it doesn't hurt to ask your aunt like others have suggested.

What a great idea to help her feel included! I agree that you should give her the same thing you are giving the rest of the ladies.
