Will they speak English durring our ceremony???

Recommended Posts

So, let me start of by saying this: I am not trying to offend ANYONE, I just have an honest question. For those of you who have married/getting married in Mexico, do they speak english for your ceremony? We're getting "legally married" here in the states, but are having the ceremony in Mexico. The last thing I want is to hand our personal ceremony over to someone who's NEVER laid eyes on it and have them read it on our wedding day. I mean you wouldn't give a speech to 100 people without reading it 1st right? And not only that, I want everything to be clear and flow, not sound like someone chocking on words. I know some people had a close friend perform the ceremony, but that wouldn't really fit us either. What are your experiences?? Thanks! :) this_topic_sucks.gif

From what I have heard the symbolic ceremony is in english. BUT a lot of the girls that have wrote their own vows and such went as far as emailing the officiant months in advance with it then came back to say it sounded like they hadn't even read over it. Most of the girls said they should have just stuck with what the original vows said. If it means that much to you though maybe find out who is doing your wedding and email the vows to them ahead of time then follow up in a few weeks after to see if they have read it over. Maybe say " I was just wondering what you thought of the vows I sent you if you have had time to look over them"

Most hotels say you have an english speaking officiant. Some girls have had great experiences & others have had their name mispronounced or an officiant that was hard to understand.

I'm emailing my script to me WC. It's completely changed from what they normally do. Their standard script didn't suit us at all. I'm just going to take my chances & if it doesn't work out, I'll still be glad we did it. I want to save a copy of the script & I'll be glad it was the words that I loved. We are also writting our own vows so that part is up to us to get right.
