I started my Alli yesterday, so far so good.

I do have one question for anyone that's using it or has used it. Do you still take a pill if you're eating a meal that doesn't have a lot of fat?

The reason I ask is because my breakfast is usually fairly low in fat, maybe 3-4 grams of fat, should I still take the pill with breakfast or is that kind of pointless?

yes jill, i still take a pill at breakfast even if my meal is only about 4-5 grams of fat. it helps jumpstart the weight loss for the day because by lunch you already have some of it in your system so it's already working. the weeks where i didnt take it at breakfast for a few days, i didnt lose as much weight. what are you eating that is so low fat?

Thanks Maura!

Today I had a bowl of smart start cereal, with skim milk and a banana. I think it came out to 3.5 grams of fat altogether.

Yesterday I had a light yogurt with strawberries, blueberries and the lowest fat bear naked granola, I think that came out to around 5 grams

When I was buying the granola I looked at all of them and chose the lowest fat one, but now that I see that my breakfasts are usually pretty low in fat, I didn't really need to do that, I could have chosen one of the others, that looked really yummy, lol!

a couple things: use lowfat milk instead of skim, youll get more vitamins and junk from it and it will make alli more active because theres a little bit of fat in it. also, when it comes to fruit in your cereal, fresh berries are better than bananas - especially fresh blueberries - there are tons of antioxidants in blueberries. bananas can raise your glycemic index quite a bit so i usually stay away from them. as for the granola, if you are going to eat the bear naked, i recommend the high protein one otherwise its like you are eating all carb granola. theres a little more fat in the high protein one, but mixed with low or no fat yogurt, it is perfect for getting the alli going in the morning. i am NEVER hungry between breakfast and lunch when i eat that.

Good tips! I think I had the high protein granola in my hand, but because I didn't know how much fat I would be eating, I was trying to buy everything with low amounts of fat.

I'm all out of milk right now, so I'll pick up low fat today. It's weird, because I feel like I'm always trying to eat more fat, it should be the opposite, lol!

just remember, alli negates 25% of the fat you eat, so you need to be eating some fat to get it working. if you are only eating stuff thats 4 grams of fat total, you're only going to lose 1 gram of fat from taking the pill.

actually i found an amazing breakfast item that makes you totally feel like you are cheating on your diet! sara lee makes these reduced fat egg mc muffins (you can ONLY have the ones with the canadian bacon, the sausage one has way too much fat) that you can find in the freezer section of the grocery store, and you can eat 2 of them and its only 12 grams of fat!!!! if you eat only one, its 6 grams of fat so you can eat something else too! a regular egg mcmuffin from mickey d's is 12 grams of fat too, but only for one, so you cant have two. if you get 1 egg mcmuffin at mickey d's, you can also get a small chocolate milk and that all adds up to 15 grams of fat. actually last week i had one egg mc muffin for breakfast 4 days in a row, and until i blew my diet by not taking any pills all weekend because i ate like a cow at all the restaurants we ate at (especially the 4 seasons for brunch sunday), i was losing weight every day because the egg mcmuffin is high in protein and with alli, is only 9 grams of fat (or 4 grams of fat if you eat the sara lee frozen ones).
