Wedding Officiants in Mexico

Recommended Posts

I know that there have been a few posts on this topic, but what I'm wondering is a little different: are there organizations down in Mexico, like Four Seasons here, that are groups of wedding officiants (non-denominational) that offer their services?

I'm suddenly looking back into doing a symbolic ceremony after all and getting married beforehand.

Our WC sent us the script of the minister they would provide and I really don't like it.

I thought it would be nice if we could pick our own officiant.

But I can't for the life of me find any companies down there that seem to provide just this service. All of them are either full WC companies or the like.

The only name I found from searching BDW is Petra Maurus. She does sound great, but $400 is a little steep. And I like selection

If these aren't around in Mexico, do you think it'd be possible for me to contact an officiant independently of the WC?

I'm frustrated... maybe I should give the WC and her officiant a chance. I'll email her and see if he can change his ceremony to suit us.

I hadn't even thought about finding my own officiant, but I would love to know what you found out or if anyone has suggestions. I think that what the resort charges is high too! I have toyed with the idea of one of my guests doing it, but I'm just not for sure. Anyone get their own?

Yes there are people who officiate. There is a new woman in Cancun named Sharon that I really like, she's American or Canadian. There is a symbolic ceremony from Charlie and Maria. They married my wife and I and are really fantastic. There is also a new group that I just worked with. Eventos de Luz I think was the name. They do a really great Mayan ceremony in mayan with English translation. All three of these can be booked through Maria and/or Erica from weddingsinplaya.com

That would be the easiest since they have all these phone numbers and I don't. Plus they have good taste and use only the best people.

Honestly, I've seen some bad officiants here (I make wedding videos). A good officiant makes my job so much easier in the editing room so I remember the good ones.

We are going to get married in the U.S. at the court house and then have what they call a symbolic ceremony. This way your ceremony will be in English and you don't have all the paperwork, fees, blood tests, etc.

Noone will know that we've already officially been married, we just feel like life will be a whole lot easier this way!! That's my plan anyways...

Hi, I am having a "Christian" ceremony and then a "mayan" or "cosmic" ceremony with Maria and Charlie (still not sure which one).

For a "sand" ceremony (I'n not interested) my WC suggested Petra and for the "Christian" ceremony I'm having KIKO. She says he is the BEST Minister in the area and i really trust her.

Hope this helps!

We are trying to decide if we want to do it legal in Mexico or if we are going to get married here first then do a mayan ceremony down there. It is very difficult to figure out how much it is all going to cost... Can anyone reccomend an officiant who can do a legal ceremony? Somone they have worked with who will travel to Tulum possibly.

Thanks!
