Your pics look so awesome! Can't wait to hear your review, although I'll probably be gone as we are only 9 days to go! Any last minute tips or advice for me?

 

@Amanda - There was no additional charge to us to have the reception in the convention center vs the restaurant. The only reason we moved it was to extend the reception until 1am. We are paying an additional $7/pp per hour for the additional 2.5 hours.

Honestly, no last minute tips.  Just relax! The wedding coordinator seriously has it all covered.  You're going to have so much fun!  Everyone has been so jealous since we got back and wish they had done a destination as well.  Congratulations in advance and hope to see some pictures when you get back!

Just a heads up for any future iberostar brides that have been sent package price list I just go an email from Connie saying they cancelled the free package with 60 nights stay for 2013. So now our package went from free to around $4,000 with all the extra per person and restaurant rental. Thinking about switching resorts now not because of the price but because of the selling of a Package and then saying they aren't going to offer it anymore. To any past brides: is this resort really worth it? Very back and forth now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

That's a little shocking.  Did you sign anything to solidify your package before they cancelled the option?  I do not think it's right for them to cancel it after you have set everything up with them.

 

After all was said and done (i did not do the free package) we spent about $3,278 before the photographer fees.  I can only speak on it being worth it for me and my now husband.  It would cost a ton more to have the same thing back here at home and I would have been miserable.  Instead I got to have it in a perfect location on a beautiful beach and no stress.  The resort handled everything and I couldn't have been more happy with my choice to go with this resort.  It was worth it for me, but I can understand your frustrations as well.  I might have felt differently if it happened to me.

We had not paid our deposit but we had picked our package with the resort and date. I found this out when I went to pay the deposit this week. We were waiting for our airlines to come first. When I emailed her to pay she said for 2013 the prices changed as of dec 10th 2012. We were planning on buying the package to begin with but then she offered us the free package since we have around 50-75 guests coming. Everything has gone up in price. Restaurant rental went from 800 to now 990 Dj went from 80hr to 100hr Chair bows $2 per bow now $3 per bow Canopy $150 to $250 Just some examples. It makes me feel at ease you really enjoyed this resort. Im just now trying to figure out if the jump in price is worth this resort. I've heard very good reviews so that does help! Thanks Kali!

Hey Amanda,

 

Sorry to hear that. We are leaving on Sunday so I can update you after our wedding on Wednesday to let you know how it goes as we'll probably have similar days (we have 95 people coming out!)

 

A few things, we did the dreams package there was no rental for restaurant and we are hiring outside DJ (Doremixx) for $900 for 7 hours of service.

 

Will try and give you a quick update on here from the resort after the wedding to hopefully put your mind at ease or help make your decision.

 

Just finalizing the last few details with Alejandra and then we are off at 6am Sunday! Wish me luck!!!

Trace - So exciting that you are leaving soon! It's here! Haha, can't imagine what you're feeling right now. I remember you saying that you were going to work with Jorge as you already had a reservation with him. I'm in the same boat and am very interested in hearing what you think of him. His prices are unbeatable and he's been extremely responsive. I am not really impressed with the work i'm seeing online with the new photographer they have onsite.

 

I can't wait to hear all of your feedback! An early congrats and sending lots of well wishes!

Thanks Jessica... I have no idea whether I'm nervous, excited or just overwhelmed and ready for it all to get going already... HaHa. We are having our wedding party over tonight to do gifts and kickstart our vacation week so I think tonight it will really sink in with everyone around.

 

Actually, we ended up cancelling with Jorge.. He basically stopped responded and I have seriously not heard from him since. So we switched and went with Lincoln from Moments that Matter. And to be honest, I was so surprised his pricing was very competitive to what Jorge had quoted so I decided to switch. Will let you know how that goes but also spy on the new photogs!

I would be interested in receiving your email with all of the available packages.  I realize the prices may have gone up this year.  We're getting married in August 2013.

Did you have any trouble getting all of the paper work sorted for a "legal" service, or did you marry before you left?
