Over the counter tooth whitening??

I tried both the gel with the trays (didn't like at all), and the crest white strips. The OTC counter ones are ok, but I bought some from my dentist and they work a lot better. They are the crest white strips but are stronger than the ones you can get OTC. You can use them twice per day but I only used them once per day and they work great. I notice a difference in 2 - 3 days. I am a smoker and LOVE my morning coffee! So I really hate it when my teeth are not white. These work really good. I also brush with a sensodyne type toothpaste. I think all of them cause a cetain amount of sensitivity.

I've had professional whitening in the past (years ago) and crest white strips the premium ones have always been great when I need a whitening touch up. However, when I want to keep them white, I stay away from red wine and coffee. They are cheap. The GoSmile kit at Sephora is also great too. However, it is really easy, you can still drink with them on, and there is little to no sensitivity. However, I feel the result take a little longer then the Crest white strips and it is alot more expensive.

I was a dental assistant for a couple of years and before that I tried Crest White Strips (the original kind b/c they didn't have all the varities then). They worked great for me and I really didn't have any sensitive. It really varies from person to person...do you have sensitive now--such as when your drink something cold? If so, then you may wnat to steer clear of this product. Another thing that can help though is by using toothpaste specifically for sensitive teeth. That can help take some of the edge off if you develop sensitivity.

Years ago, I tried the OTC trays, whitestrips and brush on whiteners and wasn't too impressed. When I had my braces removed, I splurged on the Zoom 1 hr whitening and while the results were good, the process was uncomfortable and my teeth got really hot. I wouldn't recommend it. I also got custom made molds and gel so I can maintain the whiteness myself. I do a touch up syringe every six months after my dentist cleaning.

Those GoSmile, daily touch ups sound great. I want to enjoy my red wine and coffee before the wedding, so I'll be trying those.

Hint -My dentist told me to wait 24-48 hrs after whitening before having any staining beverages like red wine or coffee, so they don't have a chance to set in.

The crest white strips worked wonders for me! They got my teeth so white! I didn't really have any sensitivity issues... I did the first time I used it but I brushed my teeth right before I used them and my teeth were a bit sensitive after but then I read the directions and it says not to brush your teeth right before usesmile35.gif Never had a problem after that!

O gals here is a hint with the whitestrips. I used them a few years ago and couldn't stand my mouth filling up with saliva. So I would put them on and lie in bed with my head on the pillow. That way the saliva goes backward, you are able to swallow without it interferring with the terrible taste of the strips. Give it a try...I used to read a book or watch tv while lying there.
