Our entire wedding party has dumped us :o(

Recommended Posts

I don't know if I'm more upset or angry at the moment, but FI got a text from the best man saying call him asap.

The best man and his gf are buying a house and don't think they can afford to come. At least he had the balls to come straight out and say it.

So FI calls the other groomsman and wants to know for sure if he's coming. He's kinda dodged around the issue. Groomsman said there's a 15% chance he's coming!!! He's going to another friend's wedding in Vegas in October. Not standing in that one though!

And my sister, my MOH, just broke up w/ her bf, also the father of her kid, and is trying to rake up money to come, but is having a hard time doing so.

Both sets of parents have dropped out unless we pay for them to come.

F*&% gad, this totally sucks. We've now called off our DW because only 4 people for sure can go. And we think that those people will back out at the last minute anyways (they do that with all other things we plan).

I gotta get new friends!

Pass that bottle of wine over here please.

I am so sorry to hear this sad.gif Look at it this way...I know it's disappointing they won't be there but at least you know to plan small now. You can have an absolutely beautiful wedding whether it's just the two of you, or 50+. We are having basically family only and just a few close friends. Very small. Everything will work out just as it should. Keep your chin up smile03.gif

I am sorry you have to go through this but it's not uncommon. You will find that alot of us on here have had to realize our true friends and family and realize that not everyone can afford to go or wants to go on vacation as much as you do no matter how much you think they should! sad.gif I realized all this the hard way too...

It's better you are finding out early though...I say go elope too. It will be wonderful!

We should share our guests... then maybe we'll have a party of 10. Ugh sad.gif

That sucks!

While some of the things are understandably part of life, seriously. And the parents not coming? So crappy sad.gif

Maybe they'll change their minds in the end?

We had problems (and still do) with FI's family but his parents and grandmother are now coming.

All this to say that we had issues and still do and re-evaluated. Look at your FI and ask him (and yourself): Do you want to get married in DR on a beach? If that's what you really want, then go ahead with it or you'll regret it. You can't let others dictate your special day.

They'll come around and if they don't, then you can have an AHR and involve them there.

Sorry you're going through this.

I am so sorry to hear that. I say if you have a destination wedding planned you should elope with your FI. You can do something with your family and friends (stinky as they might be) later...Stay true to what you and your FI originally wanted. If you really wanted a DW I would hate for you to compromise that and regret it later....
