Need some assistance: how to tell dad I'm walking alone?

I would be honest with him on what you guys want. Possibly give him another role like a reading or something.

I just told mine in a post-it-note attached to the invitation that my brother is walking me down. He joined the military and is excited to wear his dress uniform so I used that as an excuse. Plus mine also hasn't been a part of my life (by my choice mainly) since like 13. I tolerate a relationship via mail but have invited him...which is more than my mom thinks I should have done. Not tricky for those of us who had child abusers as fathers.

I still don't know how I'm going to bring it up. I won't actually see my dad until we're in Mexico for the wedding, and I don't really know how this conversation will play out over the phone.

 

Maybe I'll enlist the assistance of my sister (she lives out where he is), and get her to tell him all about my plans for the ceremony (and my solo entrance) - then when I do see him I can talk with him about it.

I think involving your sister is a great idea. That way, if he truly is disappointed you won't have to look at puppy-dog eyes and cave! LOL

 

I do think honesty is the best policy though. Tell him you love him but this is not how you envisioned your wedding and you hope that he can respect your decision. You can always say that you wanted to be sure your step-monster has someone next to her to keep her on her leash. I'm sorry that was mean! Can you tell what I've had to deal with recently? LOL
