I just got married here December 6, 2014. I do not have the professional photos but I will attach a few that my guests took. If you have questions at all about my experience, please ask! This was a great decision, and overall we had a blast! I'll start with a few pointers that I learned from this experience:

We chose the "semi-private" dinner because we did not want to pay to rent the Chill Out Bar in order to cut down on cost. I loved it, and they put us right up toward the oceanside of the Bamboleo restaurant and it was still pretty private. The decor was nice, and the candles in the restaurant created the perfect ambiance. I chose the T-bone; mistake! It was small, and very fatty. If you have the option, choose the filet. I had that one night, and it was delicious. The wedding cake had a whipped cream icing and was delicious.

Hair and makeup- We tried to book all five women for the same time and same day for the wedding, including me. The spa told me that they only had two openings. You can imagine how pissed I was! I called the wedding coordinator and she got it taken care of, sort of. My wedding was at 3pm, and two people had to get their hair done at 10am. Not good with the humidity! So my suggestion would be to ask the wedding coordinator to book the day out for you. Same with pedicures and manicures if you want them the day before. Also, if you are thinking about wearing your hair down, DON'T! This is serious. I love my hair down and curly but with the wind, and the humidity, it's a bad idea. We all did up-do's and they all held perfectly and looked great. I left a few small tendrils of hair curled around my face but they dropped instantly. I kept a curling iron hot in my room and popped in once during photographs to spruce them up so they looked good. If I would have gone with the hair down, it would have looked horrible. My hair is extra long and they charged $75 for my updo, and for short hair one of my girls paid $55. Makeup was $60. Both were reasonable.

The ceremony was perfect. Make sure you look up sunset times and then have your wedding 2 hours before then, it worked out perfectly for me with pictures and all.

Hi @@MexicoWedding2015. Congrats! My sister got married there about a year and a half ago with about 65 guests. Happy to answer any questions or find pics of anything you need. I

t rained the day of her wedding so her ceremony and reception locations got moved - she was initially bummed but it worked out great. The ceremony was in the "pure chill out bar" so it was still out door, but covered. That was probably good because we had some shade! Her wedding was in July so it was fairly hot. Her private reception ended up in the Mexican restaurant (again, I was grateful for the air conditioning)!

She brought a photographer from home with her. She didn't do a welcome "dinner" but did a cocktail reception with hors d'oeuvres in one of the other restaurants.

Thanks @@beckys98! What was the cocktail reception that your sister did? Was that private? And do you know how many guests she had?

Also, did she do hair/makeup/mani/pedis at the hotel? It seems a bit pricey for Mexico and I've been trying to see if there are any other salon options in Puerto Aventuras.

Thanks!

Hi! Her cocktail reception was private - it was in one of the restaurants. There are two restaurants that are adjacent to each other (separated by a bar in the middle) and her reception was in the one on the left and then the wedding reception was in the one on the right the next night! I can't remember which was called what :) They are both elevated and all windows so you have great views of the beach/water.

Cocktail reception had appetizers set out buffet style and then open bar. She had about 65 people and there was PLENTY of space. Her and her fiance did a brief speech that night in the room without a mic and it was fine. The reception was at 6 and then most of us went down to the buffet after to eat dinner. Then we all ended up at the disco and drank way too much and stayed out way too late for the night before the wedding...ha :)

All the bridesmaids and my sister had our hair done at the spa. Most of the girls had their makeup done, too. I decided to do my own makeup because I've had bad experiences with having my makeup done before and was worried - but then I was jealous because everyone looked SO good! Honestly, they did amazing with the make up. Most of the bridesmaids had no idea what they wanted for their hair when they sat down and they all looked good. I knew exactly what I wanted (a french twist with volume on top) and they did exactly what I wanted and it held all night.

I would say - we got mani/pedis at the spa and they were not very good. My mani chipped right away. I think the polish may have been old? If you can do it before you go (no chip manicure?) I would...
