MrsPain2b, I am using Ivan Luckie. He is great and affordable. Since posting a thread on him a few BDW brides have already used him.

I did pick the flavor there, but I already knew what the options were ahead of time. They are on one of those documents I've uploaded.

I only remember vanilla + strawberries and tres leches as an option. there was at least one other option. I tried tres leches at a friend's rehersal dinner and didn't like it. Too watery. So i went with vanilla an strawberries.

I don't really care for cake, but I love strawberries. When we fed each other cake, mike fed me a strawberry instead. I thought it was so cute & shows that he knows what I like.

I didn't want to do all the cake cutting, feeding thing. The waiters were supposed to just serve the cake. I should have had mike tell them in spanish. But, then it was fine because the strawberry thing was cute so I didn't mind having to do the cake cutting.

I will look at Ivan Luckie, thanks, it's just difficult because they all pretty much look good!
My husband didn't care at all about our pictures. I finally had to just let him know that it really mattered to me. He knows I'm not one to splurge on anything and he knows how much I love pictures.

men rarely get it.

I have been emailing back and forth with Ivan, he is pretty good at getting back to you quickly. I'm deciding between him and flying someone out to Mexico. It's about a thousand dollar price difference. But, I'm with you Morgan, pictures are very important to me. I had to explain that to my fiance. Luckily he is on the same page as me now.

Decisions, decisions. If we do end up flying someone out, I am forgoing the rehearsal dinner/welcome party and just asking everyone to meet at a bar in the hotel at a specific time so we can all get together.

you will value photography soooo much more than having a welcome dinner. I'd just tell the guests to all meet at the pure chill out bar at 9. Or the sports bar. you'd practically have that one to yourselves.

we'd often just get a big table at the buffets and end up having these impromtu group meals. It was great. I like keeping things relaxed. We ended up booking meals at the various restaurants as groups, but different groups were at each one. A group caught fish one day & they cooked them up at the japanese restaurant. That same night we had 3 tables at the italian restaurant. Then afterwards a bunch of us ended up at the creperie eatting ice cream. The place is small enough that you don't have to schedule things. you just end up running into each other & having fun group things.

If you look through the "what I would do again" thread you'll see a general theme is no one cares about the cake or welcome dinners & most people are either happy they got great photography or dissapointed they didn't.

I am so with you guys on the photography thing. I think I'll have to do a bit of sucking up to the other half to get him to come round to my way of thinking. ;-) I have made this a bargain wedding as it is. I got my brand new dress for £90 when a friend of mine went out and paid £1200 so I figure I can splurge on this one thing and to be fair he won't have nay issues with it if it's what I want - bless him.

Plead your case. If it's the one splurge you want to make then he will likely understand. It's hard for men to understand why we love photography so much. My husband doesn't feel the same way at all, but he now gets how much pictures mean to me. I've told him they are the only material thing I value & it's true. I didn't care about spending a lot on the dress and I asked him not to get me an expensive ring. I enjoy driving a 10 year old car. I'm naturally cheap in every part of my life, but I love spending money on pictures.

He gets it. He was so wonderful at our wedding spending hours taking pictures with me, even wading through bat poop to get to the spot for a picture. He has barely glanced at our pictures, but I look at them all the time.

He also agreed to take pictures with my every anniversary. This year it was just my tripod & remote control. Next year we are doing portraits in hawaii. I'll always want to get family pictures done once we have kids.

I booked a less expensive photographer for 3 hours at first. I would get so jelous when people came back with their amazing wedding pictures. Nothing else about the wedding was causing me as much concern. It was only a few months before the wedding when I canceled the original photographer & booked a photographer to fly out. Even though she was stressful and later became <photographers named removed> I'm so happy I have great wedding pictures.
