Sorry to keep adding to my own thread but I just came across the picture of the wedding gazebo that I had seen before and thought I would post it:

It's not spectacular or anything I know, but it just really strikes me as so beautiful.

Casa de campo is the best resort hands down! I used to live there and its my favorite place in the world. IT was my first choice to get married there, since I was 4! lol I always knew that the church in altos de chavon was the place I was going to get married because altos de chavon was my first home. But when it came to really select a place for the wedding, I decided I wanted a small intimate affair, and given the fact that a bunch of my family still lives in the dominican, the guest list would have been 200+ guests, and we decided to do Mexico.

That being said, there is an international airport which is 10 minutes from casa de campo and about 25 mins from bayahibe where sunscape is located. Casa de campo has both plans, the all inclusive and the european plan. You can stay at the hotel or rent a villa enough to fit you're whole wedding party.

Let me know if you need more information or email me at [email protected] I also have a friend that is a wedding planner there and I can put you in contact with her.

How good are the prices? When is your wedding? You should sign up to the Dreams forum.. there are some helpful people there!

That little church would be my first choice also! We visited La Romana and absolutely loved it! We had to tear ourselves away form that church actually...I kept taking pictures and FI kept walking around.

Anywho...I'm interested in hearing any reviews from anyone who has had their wedding in La Romana also. Or even anyone who is planning right now...how is the planning going? I was super psyched when I heard that Dreams had a resort there now and the pics on the website are making me think that I've found my resort! But like everyone else I'm skeptical since it's "new."

I was wondering about that. I'm in love with the Dream resort in La Romana but I'll go with Casa de Campo if it means being able to get married in that church! :) The church is beautiful but I also want to get married there because we were on a cruise when FI asked me to marry him and La Romana was one of the places we stopped during that cruise and we loved it there so it'll all tie in if we are able to get married there.

I read somewhere that the church held Catholic ceremonies only, have you heard this as well? Fi is Roman Catholic but we agreed to have a non-denominational ceremony (which his mother totally disagrees with....we will be living in sin by not having a Roman Catholic mass - whatever).

John and I visited Sunscape Casa Del Mar in November of 2007, and it was beautiful! The beach was awesome, the service was fantastic, and the swim up bar was nice. The food, however, was only mediocre. It was definitely edible, but it wasn't as good as the food at Dreams Tulum. However, they'll probably step it up a notch once they become a Dreams. I would definitely recommend this site. We also got the vacation for a steal. It was $650 each for 6 days including flight, taxes, fees, and transfers. I loved it.
