They changed my wedding date!

Recommended Posts

I am so upset! I had my wedding all set for Thursday April 9 at 2:00, and I got an email from ROR that the minister would not be available at that time. They offered me Friday 4/10 but it's at 11:00 am. I really didn't want to get married this early. Do any of you know anyone who did the early wedding? How does it work out? I want to do the dinner receptiona nd was thinking of renting the DJ/disco and now I'm wondering what we will do all day in between the ceremony and the reception. Do you stay in your dress all that time?? I'm afraid by the reception time, my makeup will be all melted off and my hair will be messed up. Does anyone have any advicehuh.gif?

Well, My first thought is to be very stern with them and say something like this: "Although it's unexceptable, I understand things happen and my wedding date had to be changed. However, the time I originally requested is VERY important to us. We would appreciate a compromise; if we must change our wedding date, then we must keep our original time! I'm sure you and your FI put a lot of thought into the time, but if it must be earlier don't worry at all :) I know several people who were married at 11:30am. AND you will be away from home at a beautiful resort where time is irrelevant! Your guests will be more than happy to attend your wedding despite the time!!! It will turn out great!

Oh yeah, and as far as your hair and make-up: Don't worry about that either!!! You will be in paradise and your hair will look sexy after a few hours of sun and wind. I'm going to have a mini cooler and keep my eye shadow and lip gloss in there so it doesn't melt. Just keep the make-up light and re-touch your eyes and lips as needed.

WOW! I am sure it is frustrating and leaves you with some doubt about other arrangements...I would be stern too. See what they have to say about the time.

I am getting married at 11am. I was a little miffed about the fact that it had to be so early. I guess it means an earlier bedtime the night before. I am in the midst of trying to arrange a mini cruise to take place in the afternoon to try to fill the gap.

I have heard alot of people say that guests like the down time between ceremony/pics and dinner. I only have 6 people coming so this is why I've opted for a cruise of some sort.

Good luck and update when you hear something back from them.

Hey Ellipse I think the mini-cruise would be a great idea. Could you please give me some information on it when you find out? Thansk everyone for the encouragement. I know we will be in a beautiful spot and time shouldn't matter, but 11 am is just not what I had in mind. I'm sure it will all work out!

Don't stress too much. My wedding was at 11am and it worked out just fine. There is awhole thread in here from early time brides about what to do during the break, let me see if I can find it and i'll give you the link.

Also, keep in perspective that although your guests came all the way to Jamiaca for your wedding, they also came for a vacation too so it's really no big deal at all to tell people to go eat lunch and hang out for a few hours and then meet back later. There is plenty of stuff going on at the resort all day so they won't be bored. And most people probably have never been to a DW so they don't know what to expect anyway, anything you do will be impressive!
