Hello to all...I'm trying to figure out a way to remember my FH's grandmother who has passed this year, in which them being Italian they are a very close family. I've read where you can do a candle lighting, but the Cruise Line does not allow any open flames. I thought about having them add a different color flower to my bouquet to symbolize her or even leaving a empty chair with a flower on it, but he feels like the empty chair will only cause more of an emotional reaction from his mother and sister. Any suggestionshuh.gif?

Yes, I would like to know this as well. Our situation is very difficult.

My FI's mother passed away when he was 7. All of my grandparents have passed away and all he has is one grandmother who is still alive.

What I'm mainly concerned about is how to honor his mother without everyone breaking down and crying...at his sister's weddings we all cried. I want it to be a happy remembrance - and so does he.

I like the balloon idea...what do ya'll think?

I think the balloon idea is wonderful! You can also do the photo frame that goes on your bouquet.

Or you could read a rememberance poem (although I admit that may make people sad)

Another idea is to leave a seat empty and place flowers on that seat in honor of the person.

My older brother passed away 2 years ago so my sister MOH gave me a pearl bracelet with a silver charm on it with my brother's picture in it so I can wear it at my wedding. I love it!! Then to remember my FI grandfather who passed away last summer I got one of his old hankerchiefs from his grandmother and had his initals embroidered on it in our wedding colors. I am going to give it to my FI the day of the wedding to put in his pocket. So he will know it's there but everyone else doesn't have to...

Photo on the bouquet is a great idea, I've seen it a lot and it's so meaningful, If you don't like it on the bouquet, how about a framed photo on a special reception table, I've seen photos of grand parents at receptions that way and it looks beautiful...

I used a bouquet charm for my dad's picture (so he technically walked me down the aisle). In the program, I had a poem in memory of both my dad and my husband's dad. Also, next to the guest book and seating chart, I had a frame with both of their pictures and a poem and a memory candle. So I did a bunch of things, but I really wanted to incorporate them into our wedding.
