Good extensions can run from $400-$1000. It really depends on the quality of hair, length and thickness. Since your in CA you should have some really great options.

I bought my clip ins about 2 months ago. My wedding isnt until the end of July but since I had never done had extensions before I figured I better get some practice at wearing them. I ended up with a head full of human hair. I paid about 300 for them. Because I have lots of hair already, I really didnt need all of the clips so I use only some of them. In may I took BD photos with them in...See pictures below....

 

Its really easy. They are like hair clips ... the black ones that snap except these are like combs that snap near your roots. Maybe about a quater inch at the furtherest. They stay pretty much in and it can be tricky to make sure they are blended. Again... wear them a few times before you wear them on your wedding day! I just did the hair extensions just to see if I like it, it was ok to wear at home. My stylist advise not to do for the wedding, because you really need professional care for hair ext.

i'm planning to get clip-ins of human hair...they come in various widths so you can add several pieces or one large piece that stretches across, say, the whole back of your head. the clips are pretty easy to use, once you give yourself a few tries...

Honestly, I havent even seen a stylist yet... I probably should get them cut nicely. But I see no reason not to wear them at your wedding.

I own the 23" wavy lightest blond Jessica Simpson hair extensions. I bought them and then a week later coloured my hair. They've never been worn but looked cute for a "going out" look. My head it quite small and I felt the clips fit a little awkward. If anyone is interested in buying them I'd be willing to sell them for $50 obo.

Like I said above, I went with some high end clip in extensions that were real hair (the other ones are icky, like ones you buy at the drugstore, no). I got mine at a professional wig and hair extension salon and I didn't think I would liek them but I loved them! They matched my hair color and texture perfectly and look so natural that when I have them in, I can't tell sometimes if I'm touching my own hair or the extensions. For about $200 I got 4 large peices (that go in rows around the head) and 4 small peices that are used in the front areas. I usually only wear 2 large peices when I wear them cause my hair's already thick and all of it together makes me have a ton of hair. But I've been so satisfied. ?They're still in great shape and I've had them a little over 2 yrs now.

To put them in, you pull your hair up in a clip, and comb some down creating a straight part all around the head. then you clip the extension in along the part with the 3 clips on it. they are flat metal clips/combs that lock the extension in place. the clips/combs are covered by the hair so it blends right in. These work well if you have layered hair. They hurt a little when I first put them in just because I wasn't used to them but the good news is you can wear them comfortably for a day or two, take them out at night when you're sleeping. Wear them when you want longer hair and skip em when you want to rock your shorter hair. I'm a big fan. Plus they look great! No one would be able to tell I had extensions in. BUT you can see the bumps if you pull your hair up so they're really best for down or half-up hair. Hope this helps! I can't remeber what brand mine are but I think they're made by Farrah Faucett or something? I dunno. I've definately gotten my $200 worth out of them!

I had Great Lengths extensions (the ones that bond to your head, strand by strand). I liked the way they looked at first, but they get annoying really fast. When your natural hair falls out, but it can't go anywhere because it's glued to the extension, you end up getting a slight dreadlock effect after a few months. I think you can go to a salon and have them "cleaned up" but after the 4 month mark I was ready to have them taken out! The most annoying things for me were: 1) not being able to properly brush my hair - they give you a different hair brush and you never really feel like you are brushing your hair properly, since the brush doesn't touch your scalp. 2) You can't wear your hair up without the bonds being seen around the sides and back of your head. 3) You really have to fully style your hair every day. I'm used to just throwing my hair up in a ponytail every once in awhile to give it a break, and I couldn't do that with extensions. When you wake up in the morning, your hair looks gross because it's all flat and the extensions are really obvious.

 

Having said all of that, I did love the way they looked when I styled them properly. I got mine done in London Ontario and it was about $600. I've considered getting them again but I think I would look into the clip-on ones instead...having extensions for 4-6 months straight is a big commitment and a lot of work!

I want extensions for my wedding too but worry about them for my hair because I have super thin, super fine hair (hence, why I want glorious hair for once in my life) and imagine you could likely see them. One of my bridesmaids is a hair stylist and is going to do them for me. I am getting the jessica simpson kind to try in the interim because she can get them for half off and I want a 'test drive'.

She is getting me them on Monday so I will let you know asap when I get them. She said they are AWESOME and work really good. She said that they clip in good and do not slide or come out and that it looks natural. I was actually surprised to hear that. She would be honest about it.
