Band? DJ?

I'm trying to decide for how long to get a band for and/or a DJ?

 

My WC mentioned that usually people get a band for the ceremomy and a DJ for the reception.

But i'm not sure.

Also, do you pick what they play or do they send you something beforehand?

 

And if anyone knows any good ones in Negril please let me know.

We had a steel drum band for 1 hour and they played for the ceremony and then while we took pics. Then we had a DJ for 2 hours for the reception. I think a lot of people give a playlist but we didn't care all that much. We told the steel band what song I wanted to walk in to and what song we wanted to walk out to, then we put our first dance song on a cd and gave it to the DJ.

Steel Drum Band is $350 per hour. (there's also a reggae band for $500 p/h or a Mento Band for $200 p/h).
