Has anyone used the onsite photography company for videography? And if so how does it work with having an outside photographer, do I not have to pay the hotel the $500 or have my photographer stay 2 nights because I am still using the onsite company but then do I still have to pay for day passes? I am trying to figure it all out! OR does anyone have a suggestion/recommendation on who to use for videography services. Thanks!
We have booked Ken from visual media productions as our videographer. He is a fellow Canadian who has lived down there for 14 years and he was great at getting back to me! He is also a lot more affordable than some of the other videographers I was in touch with. The package we got is for 8 hours of filming and he does up a highlight video and a longer video. It is $1,000. Then we will have to pay the $500 resort fee. I would imagine you would have to pay that fee for your photographers regardless of the fact that you are thinking of using the onsite videography... It's all about $$$$! One of our guests is a photographer so she will be taking care of that for us! www.visualmediaproductions.info is Ken's website, he is sooo friendly and will answer any of your questions! I like the quality of his filming and he will edit the videos to however you would like!

Thanks for the info! I thought I saw one bride had used the resort company for something minor and because they weren't losing her business entirely she didn't have to pay the fee, but I could be mistaken, I look at SO much on here I might be mixed up!

I will check out Visual Media! Thanks!

Well I am new to all of this, they sent me an email with the packages and I think I am leaning with the "Mint Breeze" Package because it best fits my budget. I guess I am wondering about others experiences there and if they charge a lot of extra fees and if they work with you on budgets and substitutions. Also if we book quite a big number of rooms are they good about discounted rates and what not!? I know I def want a ceremony on the beach and a private dinner reception with open bar! And I want a place that allows guest with children. I would love to hear about recent brides who have married here and all the details of their weddings and prices and their review of the resort!

Also I am thinking of a July 2013 wedding and was wondering if any of you know if the weather is pretty good and if the heat is tolerable!

Thanks so much!!

I haven't been married at the resort yet but have done all of my planning for my Nov 28, 2012 wedding so I might be able to give a few helpful hints!

Apparently they do not allow substations so if you want a Beach reception as well as ceremony then you have to go with the Strawberry package instead, or your reception will be inside in a banquet hall.

All of the Barcelo resorts all allow children, at least as far as I know there are no restrictions on them.

I know there are a TON of posts on this thread but they really are super fantastic and helpful to go through when you have some time, you will probably find many great hints and tips on anything and probably everything you might want to know about this fantastic resort! People post great pictures and everything!

Happy Planning!

Hi Daneli,

I am planning to be married November 2013, but I did visit the resort 3 years ago, and was also there in July back in 2003 or so. The resort is beautiful, allows children and has a kids club.

As for the temperature in July, it's HOT!!!! It's the hottest time of the year, but that does mean that prices are cheaper. In 2003 I went in July, it was fine for me as I like laying in the sun and relaxing, but it was scorching. The last 3 years we've gone in November and much more tolerable. Still hot, but not crazy hot!

Hope that helps :) Happy planning!

There is no charge for a day pass, although there are some places that you cannot use at the Palace unless you are staying there, such as the Carrey Bar and two of the restaurants (which you have to pay $15 per person if you want to eat there). As far as I was told by our WC because we are staying at the Palace and having our ceremony at the Gazebo we don't have to pay for guests to attend the Ceremony, if we stayed at the Colonial/Tropical or Beach/Caribe we would have to pay $15 per person who was at the ceremony at the Gazebo.

Hello Barcelo Ladies,

I really hope you are enjoying the entire planning process.

We recently had the opportunity of shooting a gorgeous and romantic wedding at the Barcelo and I just wanted to share with you a few of my favorite moments to give you some ideas and help you visualize your day:

We got lucky as every plane we boarded had room in the first class closet for my dress and my husband's linen suit.  They could not guarantee it but they did tell me that the flight attendants would do their best to accommodate my dress.  Everyone was very nice and we had no problems on the way to Mexico and on the way back home.

If there are empty seats they may lay the dress there, if there is room in the closet they will try to hang it or they will let you take an entire overhead bin and you have to fold your dress over and put it in there. My friend did that when we flew to Cabo for her wedding and it was fine. She did however bring a travel steamer with her. I'm also wondering about the favors so if you get any ideas please let me know ! Im getting married on April 29, 2013 :)
