The new menu options are sad! I don't understand why they would go from a 5 course menu to a 3 course menu and not make it better. The selection isn't any better than what you could get from your average resturant....Hopefully you can still order off the old menu!

harv0136 Did you already put your date on hold? When did you do this? Also have you already booked your flights? And do you know how long you have to confirm your wedding is it 2 months from when you put your date on hold or 2 months before the wedding?

For those of you having a cocktail hour with all the finger foods I wouldnt worry about the smaller menus. Not one person at our wedding was able to finish all the 5 courses we had. The portions are pretty decent. I only made it through the first 2 plates served. Hopefully they arent charging the same amount though for the downsized dinners?

Your menu options depend on what wedding package you choose. For 2009, there are 6 wedding packages. The first two packages, Mayan Sunset and Seabreeze do not offer surf and turf as a combo (they are the least expensive of the 6). Also it's good to know with the first two packages you are not able to have the wedding reception outside, only in the banquet room. This is why my fiance and I upgraded to the next package up "Under the Stars".

Pepsi, where did you get this menu from? I am getting married at the Palace in May and that is not the 08' or 09' menu. Also, it is very tough to get in contact with the WC there but I hired a Riviera Maya WC outside of the resort and she is touch with the WC there on a regular basis. All the information I have is up to date.
If you purchase Mayan or Seabreeze packages there are 4 courses (including dessert). My fiance and I will spend $100+ on a nice dinner when we go out, and I have to say that the Palace menu is by far the nicest we've seen of any resort. Although we were impressed with the menu we wanted our reception outside so we needed to upgrade to the Under the Stars, which offers Surf and Turf as an option (packages after Seabreeze are 5 courses).

The following menu is not to get confused with the other resorts at Barcelo and is offered at the Palace. It is also ONLY FOR MAYAN and SEA BREEZE PACKAGES. There are four courses and you can pick which course you want from any of the menus to make up your wedding menu.

Menu # 1
Yellow fin tuna carpaccio
Cream of asparagus sauce
Beef tenderloin
Luke warm half baked dark chocolate fondant
Coffee, petit fours

Menu # 2
Sea scallops salad with lime vinaigrette
Lobster bisque
Beef tenderloin Wellington
Crème brûlée
Coffee, petit fours

Menu # 3
Homemade rabbit terrine
Coquille Saint Jacques with saffron cream sauce
Fillet of fresh salmon with dill
Stracciatella parfait with caramel sauce
Coffee, petit fours

Menu # 4
Beef carpaccio with green peppercorn sauce
Consommé©lestine
Roast rack of lamb with rosemary
Caribbean pineapple & coconut cake
Coffee, petit fours

Vegetarian menu
Tomato salad with goat cheese & pesto dressing
Cream of carrot soup
Vegetable strudel with red pepper sauce
Dessert
Coffee, petit fours

I got this menu from one of the other girls on the unofficial barcelo maya site. I have now been told that the menu I posted above(the 3 course dinner) Is for the banquet rooms only because they are the less expensive package so you get a less expensive dinner. Which is good to know considering the under the stars package is quite a bit more expensive..... At least all that extra money isn't just for a beach set up! Like someone said above surf and turf are still available as long as you are having/paying for a reception on the beach! Sorry for not clearing that up sooner!

pepsibabi- Yes, I already put my date on hold for January 25, 2010. I did it a few weeks ago. She told me I had until 5 months before my wedding to give her my booking information, but other places I've read two. So maybe this has change. I haven't book anything yet, as in flight or hotel. I think the earliest I can start looking for prices would be around March. I haven't asked too many questions because they seem to give pretty vague answers. She told me she would contact me with the new 2010 prices when she gets them, I'm assuming they will go up some.

I'm a little confused about the dinners, So, is the surf n turf still available with the oceans sceants or under the stars? Thanks! For those of you that have been there, would you recommend a reception in the grill? Thanks!

Hey girls,

I just got back from a site visit to the Barcelo Maya Resorts we sayed for 7 days.

My FI & I are staying on the Colonial/Tropical side until the night of our weddig & upgrading to the Palace that night & for the rest of our stay. Here is the run down, it doesn't matter where your guests stay, only where you and your FI are booked the day you get married.

ie. if you are booked at the Colonial/Tropical you can not use the palace gazeebo for your wedding, but if you are booked at the Palace the day of your wedding, you can.

Differences btwn the resorts:

Palace: Unlimited A la carte restaruants, top shelf liquor, can use ALL facilites at Palace, Colonial/Tropical, Beach/Caribe

Colonial/Tropical: Can not use any facilities/pool or even walk over to the Palace, A la carte meal tickets (depending upon number of days booked (1-3 tickets), No top shelf drinks (ie. Jack Daniels, Absolut, etc), can use/eat at all of the facilities on the Colonial/Tropical & Beach/Carbie

Beach/Caribe: Can not use any facilities/pool or even walk over to the Palace, A la carte meal tickets can only be used a the Beach/Caribe Restaruants (Al Agave, Mexian; Don Quiote, Spanish) (depending upon number of days booked (1-3 tickets), No top shelf drinks (ie. Jack Daniels, Absolut, etc), can eat only at the beach grills of the Colonial/Tropical & only use their pools, no Colonial/Tropical restaurants or buffet.

Wedding packages are all the same no matter if you stay at the Palace or the other resorts. Here is the main differences with a few of the packages:

Sea Breeze Package: Private dinner choosen off a set menu from one of the a la carte restaruants, dinner can only be held in a banquet room for parties over 11 people, if under 11 they do it in the restaurant you choose the same menu from. (note there is a $20pp charge for any guests over 20)

Under the Stars: Private dinner with the menu choosen from 4 differnt options (this is different food than served at the restaurnts, specially made for weddings) You can order a taste test, but they charge you to do that sad.gif You can mix and match from the 4 different menu options (meaning a app from choice 1, dessert from choice 3, etc), but you have to choose only one 4 course meal for your guest unless there is a vegitarian or soemthing. ie. if you choose beef for you main course, everyone gets beef, unless the are a vegitarian, you can't let the guests pick from either chicken or beef, you choose for them. (note there is a $60pp charge for any guests over 10)

Ocean Scents: Same dinner as the Under the Stars, but you and your FI get VIP Status (Top Shelf booze, unlimited a la carte restaruants, special section at the Jaquar's Discoteque) This doesn't matter much if you are staying at the Palace, though.

Alcohol is based on where your guests are staying (ie. If they have a Colonial/Tropical wristband on, they will not get top shelf drinks at your wedding) but some one could just order it for them :)

I will be posting pics & stuff too.......
