Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

$4? totally bring your own.

Tracy, Thanks for the heads up. I assume they use digital cameras and if so the difference between b&w and color is switching a button. So, I don't see why it would be a big deal either. I will just chat with him :-)

I just don't see the point of having 2.5 circular tables, especially when 4 of the guests are children under 4 years of age. I feel like it would create a separated feel.
Totally makes sense, I would definitely ask about it. If nothing else maybe they can do a wedding party table and a guest table?

If anyone has a Christmas Tree Shop near them they have really cute votives there super cheap. They have a ceramic one with a beachy scene on it for 50 cents and a smoky glass one with a shell for $1.

Nibsmom - This was sent to me from the Moon Palace. One of the set ups has a rectangular set up. Not exactly what you mentioned, but it's not circular. Maybe they could do a "U" set up or just add another table? Thought it might help since it's a document from the resort.

Another decision I'm stuck on.... Right now I have our dinner at Barracuda as it's the only restaurant listed as not buffet and will hold 18 guests. After reading some reviews I'm considering switching to Arrecifes since it's sounds like the only buffet part is going up to get a salad.... Any suggestions as to which is nicer? Also, does any know if Arrecifes is air conditioned? That might be a winner right there if it is.

Morgan - Thanks sharing the pictures! I absolutely LOVE the ones on the wall overlooking the ocean!!!

Hey Eureaka! Thanks for the document - I'll take a look.

I totally just switched my welcome dinner from Barracuda to Arrecifes. I read the food was much better. Since there was already another dinner booked, I'm out on the terrace, but I think it will be nice anyways, as long as there's a breeze!

Nina, i will let you know. We will be there the Friday before you. I have heard over and over that everyone loves Arrecifes.

We are having a five hour wedding reception/party, one that will start with a cocktail hour then go to a dinner, cake cutting, and dancing.

I am requesting the VIP HorsD'oeuvres and asking if they can add the Prosciutto with melon pearls.

For Dinner, I decided on a buffet. We are going to have the Tex-Mex Buffet (doesn't look like Tex-Mex to me though but yummy - HA!!) I am going to sub Roasted Pork Loin with a Green Tomato Sauce instead of grilled top sirloin. I am going to ask them to add Shrimp Shish Kebabs and request that Midori Cream Caramel Tirimisu be one of the desserts.

What selections are you upcoming Brides making for you Wedding Receptions?

Hey Tina and all!

We are doing our welcome dinner at Arrecifes. It should be a good time! I'm excited for that!

Right after our ceremony, we are having a cocktail reception. We chose the mexican menu. This should run until about 2:30ish.

Then we are going to have an informal meet up for those who want to keep the party going at the Nizuc Lobby Bar.

Our reception will start at 6pm. We are having the Polynesian buffet. We also are getting a small one layer vanilla wedding cake. We figured since we get dessert with our buffet (like three of them!) not everyone would want wedding cake.

We probably won't do any substitutions or additions to the menus. We really like them both. The only thing I was super die hard about was that there is plenty of guacamole and chips at the cocktail reception, and that's already on the menu.

An update on the tables: my WC told me I could RENT rectangular tables if I wanted to. I'm like WTF!? I know other brides have done this and not gotten charged. I sent her an email last night indicating the picture in the Reception document with the U shaped table, and asked her if I could do something like that. Part of me wonders if this is a battle worth fighting, but I don't want to be unhappy at my reception either!!

Tina - Have you heard when you will be having your on-site meeting? I e-mailed my on-site (Ana Margarita) asking this and have not heard back. I'm hoping it is the day after we arrive? Also, when are you returning from your vacation? I know that you have been a very active member on the forum and I'm looking for to your review for any last minute suggestions.

Nibsmom - I'm sorry to hear that they are still not giving in to the rectangular tables. To be honest, I don't get why they aren't! I would say keep at it, but if you are unable to get them don't stress about it. Like you said, you don't want to be unhappy at the reception, but at the same time if you end up with round tables, don't let it make you upset! :) Also, when are you returning from the wedding? I leave the 28th.

On another note - has anyone heard what the occupancy rate is currently like? I know during the heat of the "swine flu" everything went drastically down. I'm wondering if it is still low or is more back to normal? I'm not sure which I'd rather!

Nina, Keep on her about the tables but like Eureaka said, don't let it upset you!! Keep up your spirits. From what we hear over and over, it will be your dream wedding even if everything isn't 100% perfect.

Eureka, we will be there from July 5th to July 16th. We are taking our labtop with us so I will probably check the forum while there. If you have any specific questions let me know. I will try and come back and do my review as quickly as possible.

Our appointment with our WC, Kelena, is on July 6th.

Lady's, 7 days and we will be sitting on the beach and in 13 days I will officially be Mrs. Maldonado!!

Holy poop! I can't believe you're leaving in 7 days!!! You must be so freaking excited!! I'm leaving in like 17 and I'm so freaking excited!!! I will be completely crazy by the time I get down to 7 days I think!

I will continue on with the tables. I just don't like being argumentative. I just don't understand why she's telling me I can't when I KNOW other brides have. Oh well. It won't be the end of the world if I have circular tables I guess.

So, I've continued to have nightmares about the wedding. I had a horrible one last night that I missed the wedding entirely, and then I had no make up or dress and my hair was a mess. LOL. It was crazy! I've also have had nightmares about driving...LOL. I'm learning how to drive, starting yesterday. Yes, I am 27, and I have never learned to drive. I drove on the road for the first time yesterday though! It was a big accomplishment! Yay for me and all the 16 year olds of the world! LOL!
